4.1 Initial Connection

  1. Identify a free USB Type-A port on your computer (Windows, Mac, Linux) or compatible gaming console (PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch).
  2. Insert the FMA120 dongle into the USB port. Note that the dongle has a specific orientation for proper function; if it does not work initially, try rotating it 180 degrees.
  3. The FMA120 is plug-and-play for most operating systems and will be recognized as a USB audio device (speaker and microphone) without requiring additional drivers.

4.2 FlooCast Software Installation (Recommended)

For advanced configuration, firmware updates, and optimal performance, it is recommended to install the FlooCast software. You can find the software and the detailed user guide by scanning the QR code on the back of the dongle or product packaging, or by visiting the official FLOOGOO support website.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Pairing with Audio Devices

The FMA120 supports various audio modes, including High Quality (one-to-one), Gaming (one-to-one), and Broadcast. The pairing process may vary slightly depending on the mode and your audio device.

  1. Ensure the FMA120 is plugged into your computer/console.
  2. Open the FlooCast application (if using a computer) to manage settings.
  3. Put your Bluetooth audio device (headphones, earbuds, hearing aids) into pairing mode.
  4. In the FlooCast app, select the desired audio mode (e.g., High Quality for aptX Lossless, or LE Audio for hearing aids).
  5. The FMA120 will search for devices. Once your device is detected, select it to initiate pairing.
  6. For LE Audio devices, especially hearing aids, ensure that other Bluetooth connections to your hearing aids (e.g., from a smartphone) are temporarily disabled or forgotten during the initial pairing with the FMA120 to avoid conflicts.
  7. Be patient during the first pairing, as it may take a few minutes for some LE Audio devices.

5.2 LED Status Indicator

The FMA120 features an LED indicator to show its current status:

LED StatusExplanation
Flash slowlyIdle
Flash fastSearching for pairing
Flash 2 times in 2 secondsConnected, audio idle
Flash 3 times in 2 secondsAudio or broadcast streaming

5.3 Switching Between Devices (for LE Audio)

When using LE Audio devices, particularly hearing aids, switching between the FMA120 and another device (e.g., a smartphone) may require manual intervention. If your hearing aids are connected to your phone via MFi (Made for iPhone) protocol, they assume exclusive use. To switch from your phone to the FMA120, you may need to temporarily disable Bluetooth on your phone. Conversely, to switch from the FMA120 to your phone, unplug the FMA120 or disable its connection via the FlooCast app.

6. Compatibility

The FLOOGOO FMA120 is designed for broad compatibility:

  • Operating Systems: Windows, macOS, Linux (plug-and-play, no drivers needed).
  • Gaming Consoles: PlayStation 4 (PS4), PlayStation 5 (PS5), Nintendo Switch.
  • Audio Devices: Supports a wide range of Bluetooth headphones, earbuds, and speakers.
  • Hearing Aids: Compatible with various LE Audio-enabled hearing aids, including models from Signia, Oticon (with latest firmware), and Philips.
  • Communication Platforms: Optimized for use with Microsoft Teams.
  • Audio Codecs: aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless.

7. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your FMA120 dongle:

  • Keep the dongle clean and free from dust and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Avoid exposing the dongle to extreme temperatures, humidity, or direct sunlight.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the dongle yourself. This will void the warranty.
  • Store the dongle in a safe place when not in use to prevent physical damage.

8. Troubleshooting

8.1 General Troubleshooting

  • Dongle Not Recognized: Ensure the dongle is fully inserted into the USB port. Try a different USB port or rotate the dongle 180 degrees.
  • No Audio/Connection Issues:
    • Verify your audio device is in pairing mode.
    • Ensure the correct audio output device (FMA120) is selected in your computer's sound settings.
    • If using LE Audio, temporarily disable or forget other Bluetooth connections on your audio device (e.g., phone) before pairing with the FMA120.
    • Restart your computer/console and the FMA120 (by unplugging and re-plugging).
  • Audio Cutting Out/Interference:
    • Avoid connecting the FMA120 to the same USB hub as USB 3.0 devices (e.g., external HDDs/SSDs), as they can cause interference.
    • Ensure your audio device is within range of the FMA120.

8.2 FlooCast Software Issues

  • Software Not Detecting Dongle: Ensure the dongle is properly connected. Close and reopen the FlooCast application.
  • Firmware Update Problems: Follow the instructions within the FlooCast app carefully. Do not disconnect the dongle during a firmware update. If issues persist, consult the official support website.
