Front Panel Controls

1. Channels 1-4 (Input Sections): Each channel features PFL (Pre-Fader Listen) switch, LINE/PHONO/MIC input selector, TRIM (gain) control, 3-band EQ (HIGH, MID, BASS) with full kill, PRE/POST FX SEND selector, and a large rotary volume knob.
2. Isolator: A dedicated 3-band frequency isolator with large rotary knobs for BASS, MID, and HIGH, allowing for dramatic frequency manipulation.
3. Analogue Subharmonic Synthesizer: Controls for FREQUENCY and LEVEL to add deep sub-bass frequencies to your mix.
4. Master Section: Includes REC OUT (recording output) level, HOUSE (main output) level, BOOTH (monitor output) level, FX PFL switch, L+R balance, PFL/MIX source selector, and a master VOLUME knob.
5. Headphone Output: 1/4" jack for monitoring.

• Mains Input: Power switch and IEC power connector with fuse holder.
• FX Loop: RCA SEND and RETURN jacks for connecting external effects units.
• Outputs:
  • HOUSE (Main Output): Balanced XLR (L/R) and unbalanced RCA (L/R) outputs.
  • BOOTH (Monitor Output): Balanced XLR (L/R) outputs.
  • REC OUT (Recording Output): Unbalanced RCA (L/R) output.
• Inputs 1-4: Each channel features RCA PHONO (with ground terminal) and LINE inputs. Channel 4 also includes an XLR MIC input.

Setup

1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the mixer from its packaging. Retain the packaging for future transport or storage.
2. Placement: Place the mixer on a stable, flat surface, ensuring adequate ventilation around the unit. Avoid placing it near heat sources or in direct sunlight.
3. Power Connection:
   • Ensure the power switch on the rear panel is in the OFF position.
   • Connect the supplied power cable to the MAINS INPUT on the rear panel and then to a suitable AC power outlet.
4. Connecting Audio Sources:
   • Connect your turntables to the PHONO inputs (RCA) and attach the ground wire to the GND terminal for each channel.
   • Connect CDJs, media players, or other line-level devices to the LINE inputs (RCA).
   • For microphone input, connect your microphone to the MIC input (XLR) on Channel 4.
5. Connecting Outputs:
   • Main Speakers (HOUSE): Connect your main PA system or studio monitors to the balanced XLR or unbalanced RCA HOUSE outputs.
   • Booth Monitors (BOOTH): Connect your booth monitor speakers to the balanced XLR BOOTH outputs.
   • Recording Device (REC OUT): Connect a recording device to the RCA REC OUT jacks. This output is independent of the master volume.
6. External FX Unit (Optional): If using an external effects processor, connect its input to the FX SEND (RCA) and its output to the FX RETURN (RCA).
7. Headphones: Plug your headphones into the 1/4" jack on the front panel.

Operating Instructions

Basic Mixing

1. Power On: After all connections are made, switch on your audio sources, then your amplifiers/speakers, and finally the Ecler WARM4 mixer using the rear panel power switch.
2. Input Selection: For each channel, select the appropriate input source (PHONO, LINE, or MIC) using the selector switch.
3. Gain Staging (TRIM): Play a track on your source. Engage the PFL switch for that channel. Adjust the TRIM knob until the channel's level meter reaches around 0dB, occasionally peaking into the yellow, but avoiding constant red clipping.
4. Equalization (EQ): Use the HIGH, MID, and BASS rotary knobs to shape the sound of each channel. These EQs offer full kill capability when turned fully counter-clockwise.
5. Channel Volume: Use the large rotary volume knob for each channel to control its output level into the mix.
6. Master Volume: Adjust the HOUSE (main output) and BOOTH (monitor output) levels using their respective knobs in the master section.
7. Headphone Monitoring (PFL/MIX):
   • Press the PFL switch on any channel to listen to that channel in your headphones before it goes to the master mix.
   • Use the PFL/MIX knob in the master section to blend between the PFL signal and the main mix in your headphones.
   • Adjust the HEADPHONE VOLUME knob for comfortable listening.

Using the Isolator

The 3-band isolator allows for precise and dramatic frequency cuts or boosts across the entire mix. Turn the BASS, MID, and HIGH knobs to manipulate the respective frequency ranges. Turning them fully counter-clockwise will completely cut that frequency band.

Using the FX Send/Return

To integrate an external effects unit:

• Connect your FX unit as described in the Setup section.
• For each channel, select PRE or POST FX SEND. PRE sends the signal before the channel volume, POST sends it after.
• Adjust the SEND FX knob for each channel to control the amount of signal sent to the external FX unit.
• The processed signal from the FX unit will return via the FX RETURN. Adjust the FX RETURN knob in the master section to blend the effect into your main mix.

Analogue Subharmonic Synthesizer

The built-in subharmonic synthesizer adds powerful, deep bass frequencies to your mix. Engage the ON switch to activate it. Use the FREQUENCY knob to select the desired sub-bass frequency range and the LEVEL knob to control the intensity of the added subharmonics.

Maintenance

• Cleaning: Always disconnect the mixer from the power supply before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the exterior. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
• Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the mixer in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and excessive dust. It is recommended to use the original packaging for storage and transport.
• Ventilation: Ensure that the ventilation openings are always clear of obstructions to prevent overheating.
