Step-by-Step Assembly:

  1. Install the Bucking Spike (Wooden Ruler):
    • Locate the bucking spike (often referred to as a wooden ruler in some instructions).
    • Position it on the chainsaw body, ensuring the gear tip is facing upwards.
    • Secure it by tightening the inner hexagon screw.
  2. Install the Guide Plate and Chain:
    • Place the guide plate onto the two set screws on the chainsaw body.
    • Unpack the chain. Pay close attention to the direction of the chain's cutting edges; they must face forward.
    • Insert the chain into the gear slot of the main engine and wrap it around the guide plate. Ensure the chain is properly seated in the groove of the gear.
  3. Install the Brake Plate and Adjust Chain Tension:
    • Align the hole in the brake plate with the adjusting screw on the guide plate.
    • Place the brake plate over the guide plate and chain assembly.
    • Loosely screw on the nuts that secure the brake plate, but do not tighten them fully yet.
    • Use a screwdriver to adjust the chain tension. Turn clockwise to tighten the chain and counter-clockwise to release it. The chain should be snug but still able to be pulled out about 1.5 cm from the guide bar.
    • Once the chain tension is correct, fully tighten the nuts to secure the brake plate.

6. Operating Instructions

Before starting, ensure all safety precautions are understood and followed. Always wear full PPE.

Fueling the Chainsaw:

  • Mix gasoline and 2-cycle engine oil at a ratio of 25:1 in a separate, approved fuel container.
  • Fill the fuel tank (550ml capacity) and the chain oil tank (260ml capacity) with the appropriate fluids.
  • Wipe up any spills immediately.

Starting the Chainsaw:

  1. Place the chainsaw on a firm, flat surface.
  2. Engage the chain brake.
  3. Set the choke to the 'closed' position.
  4. Press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible.
  5. Pull the starter cord firmly until the engine briefly fires.
  6. Move the choke to the 'open' position.
  7. Pull the starter cord again until the engine starts.
  8. Allow the engine to warm up for a few moments before disengaging the chain brake and beginning operation.

Cutting Techniques:

  • Maintain a balanced stance and firm grip on both handles.
  • Always cut with the lower edge of the guide bar to avoid kickback.
  • Do not force the saw; let the chain do the work.
  • Be aware of falling branches and logs. Plan your cuts carefully.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your chainsaw.

Daily Maintenance:

  • Chain Lubrication: The chainsaw features an adjustable auto chain oiler. Ensure the chain oil tank is filled before each use. Adjust the oil flow as needed to maintain proper lubrication on the chain.
  • Chain Tension: Check and adjust chain tension before each use. The chain should be snug but still movable.
  • Cleaning: Clean the air filter, cooling fins, and guide bar groove. Remove sawdust and debris from the engine housing.
  • Chain Sharpening: A dull chain can cause kickback and poor cutting performance. Sharpen the chain regularly or replace it when necessary.

Periodic Maintenance:

  • Inspect the spark plug and clean or replace it as needed.
  • Check the fuel filter and replace if clogged.
  • Inspect the starter cord for wear.
