3.3 Initial Setup and Charging

For internet access on the go, the LC90 supports 4G SIM cards (FDD Band2/3/4/5; TDD Band38/39/40/41). To insert a SIM card:

  1. Locate the SIM card slot on the radio.
  2. Carefully insert the 4G SIM card into the slot until it is securely in place.
  3. The radio should automatically detect the network.

4.1 Internet Radio and Podcasts

The LC90 provides access to over 40,000 internet radio stations and approximately 10 million podcast episodes, including content from Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Stations are categorized by continent, country, province, city, type, and popularity.

You can bookmark your favorite stations for quick access. The radio also supports direct searching for stations and podcasts on the Choyong website, which can then be pushed to your device.

4.2 Voice Search Stations via GPT

The LC90 features fast and accurate voice search functionality powered by GPT, allowing you to find radio stations and podcasts by speaking commands. This feature is available with firmware version 4.7 and above.

4.3 Multi-Band Radio (FM, LW, MW, SW, SSB)

In addition to internet radio, the LC90 can receive traditional radio broadcasts across multiple bands:

  • FM: Frequency Modulation band.
  • LW: Longwave band.
  • MW: Mediumwave band (AM).
  • SW: Shortwave band, including Single Side Band (SSB) reception (USB/LSB).

The radio allows for adjustment of reception bandwidth, displays signal strength (SNR), and supports external antenna connections for improved reception.

Single Side Band (SSB) Operation

The LC90 supports SSB reception, allowing for clearer reception of certain shortwave broadcasts. To use SSB:

  1. Switch to the SW band.
  2. Activate SSB mode (refer to the on-screen menu or dedicated button).
  3. Use the fine-tuning knob to precisely tune into the SSB signal for optimal clarity.

4.4 Bluetooth and TF Card Playback

The LC90 features Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, allowing you to stream audio wirelessly from your smartphone or other Bluetooth-enabled devices. It also supports TF (Micro-SD) cards up to 32GB for playing local audio files in various formats (FLAC, WAV, APE, WMA, MP3, M4A).

To connect via Bluetooth, enable Bluetooth on your external device and select "LC90" from the list of available devices. For TF card playback, ensure the card is inserted, then select the TF mode on the radio.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning and Care

To maintain your LC90 radio in optimal condition:

  4. Important: Once the upgrade begins, do not press any buttons! The radio will automatically restart after the upgrade is complete. The entire process typically takes 1-2 minutes.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Radio Fails to Turn On (Low Voltage)

If your LC90 radio does not turn on due to low battery voltage, follow these steps:

  2. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, then release it.
  3. Afterward, press and hold the power button again for 5 seconds to restart.
