4. Setup and Installation
4.1 Unpacking
Remove all packaging materials, including foam and adhesive tape. Inspect the freezer for any shipping damage. Report any damage to your retailer immediately.
4.2 Placement
Choose a location that is dry, well-ventilated, and away from direct sunlight or heat sources (e.g., stove, radiator). Ensure there is at least 10 cm (4 inches) of space around the sides and back of the freezer for proper air circulation. The floor must be strong enough to support the freezer when fully loaded.

4.3 Electrical Connection
Before plugging in, allow the freezer to stand upright for at least 2-4 hours. This allows the refrigerant to settle. Connect the freezer to a dedicated, grounded electrical outlet with the correct voltage as specified on the rating label. Do not use multi-plugs or extension cords.
4.4 Initial Cleaning
Before first use, wipe the interior of the freezer with a damp cloth and a mild detergent. Dry thoroughly.
5. Operating Your Chest Freezer
5.1 Control Panel and Mode Selection
Your Defy Multimode Chest Freezer features an intuitive control panel allowing you to switch between three modes: Freezer, Chiller, and Fridge. Locate the control panel, typically on the lower front or side of the unit.
- Freezer Mode: For long-term storage of frozen foods (typically -18°C to -24°C).
- Chiller Mode: Ideal for keeping beverages or fresh produce very cold, but not frozen (typically 0°C to 4°C).
- Fridge Mode: For general refrigeration of fresh foods (typically 2°C to 8°C).
Refer to the markings on your specific control panel to select the desired mode and temperature setting.
5.2 Temperature Control
Adjust the thermostat dial or digital controls to your desired temperature. For initial use, set to the coldest setting for 24 hours before loading food.
5.3 Loading the Freezer
Do not overload the freezer. Allow space for air to circulate around items for efficient cooling. For best results, pre-cool the freezer for several hours before adding large quantities of food.

6. Care and Maintenance
6.1 Defrosting
Defrost the freezer when the frost layer reaches about 0.5 cm (1/4 inch) thick. Turn off the freezer and unplug it. Remove all food items and place them in a cooler. Open the lid and allow the frost to melt naturally. Use a soft cloth to wipe away melted water. Do not use sharp objects to remove ice.
6.2 Cleaning the Interior
After defrosting, clean the interior with a solution of mild detergent and warm water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely before restarting the freezer.
6.3 Cleaning the Exterior
Wipe the exterior surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. For stubborn stains, use a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Keep the condenser coils at the back clean by gently vacuuming them periodically to ensure efficient operation.
6.4 Power Outage Guidelines
Thanks to Chill-In Technology, your freezer can maintain temperature for up to 140 hours during a power outage. Keep the lid closed as much as possible to retain cold air. Do not open the lid unnecessarily.
7. Troubleshooting Guide
