3. Setup and Powering Your Radio

3.1 Powering Options

Your Greadio Emergency Weather Radio offers two primary methods for power supply:

  1. AC Power: For continuous indoor use, connect the provided power cord to the AC input port on the radio and plug the other end into a standard wall outlet.
  2. Battery Power: For portable use or during power outages, the radio can be powered by 4 D-Cell batteries (not included).

3.2 Installing D-Cell Batteries

To install batteries:

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the radio.
  2. Open the battery compartment cover.
  3. Insert 4 D-Cell batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

4. Operating Your Radio

4.1 Turning On/Off and Volume Control

  • To turn the radio on, rotate the VOLUME knob clockwise. The LCD display will illuminate.
  • To adjust the volume, continue rotating the VOLUME knob.
  • To turn the radio off, rotate the VOLUME knob counter-clockwise until it clicks.

4.2 Tuning to Radio Stations (AM/FM/SW)

The radio supports AM, FM, and Shortwave (SW) bands.

  1. Select Band: Use the RADIO switch (AM/FM/SW) to select your desired frequency band.
  2. Extend Antenna: For optimal reception, fully extend the telescopic antenna, especially for FM and Shortwave bands.
  3. Tune Station: Rotate the TUNING knob to search for stations. The frequency will be displayed on the LCD screen.
  4. Automatic Search: The radio can automatically search and save up to 40 AM or FM stations. Refer to the specific button labels on your unit for "MEM/SCAN" or similar functions.

4.3 NOAA Weather Alert Function

  • Switch the band selector to the "WB" (Weather Band) position.
  • The radio will scan for the strongest NOAA weather station in your area.

4.4 Tone Control
