Figure 1: Exploded view of the Sondiko Propane Torch showing its main components including the burner head, igniter, fuel flow knob, and ergonomic handle. This image illustrates how the detachable long arm connects to the propane tank connector.
  • Burner Head: The flame outlet, designed for high heat output.
  • Long Arm: A 30-inch detachable extension that provides reach and keeps the user at a safe distance from the flame.
  • Igniter Button: For quick and easy ignition of the gas flow.
  • Fuel Flow Knob: Controls the intensity of the flame.
  • Ergonomic Handle: Provides a comfortable and secure grip during operation.
  • Propane Tank Connector: For attaching standard 1lb propane cylinders (propane tank not included).

Setup Instructions

  1. Assemble the Torch: Connect the long arm to the handle and the burner head. Ensure all connections are secure and hand-tightened.
  2. Prepare Propane Tank: Ensure the fuel flow knob on the torch handle is in the "OFF" position (turned clockwise as far as it will go).
  3. Attach Propane Tank: Securely screw a compatible 1lb propane cylinder onto the propane tank connector on the torch handle. Hand-tighten only. Do not overtighten.
  4. Check for Leaks: Before ignition, check all connections for leaks using a soapy water solution. Apply the solution to the connections; if bubbles appear, tighten the connection. If bubbles persist, do not use the torch and contact customer support.

Operating Instructions

  1. Ignition: Slowly turn the fuel flow knob counter-clockwise to allow a small amount of gas to flow. Point the burner head away from yourself and any flammable materials. Press the igniter button repeatedly until the torch lights.
  2. Adjust Flame: Once lit, slowly turn the fuel flow knob counter-clockwise to increase the flame intensity to your desired level. Turn clockwise to decrease.
  3. Using the Torch:
    • Weed Burning: Pass the flame quickly over weeds. The goal is to heat the weeds until their cell walls burst, not to incinerate them. They will wilt and die within a few days.
    • Ice/Snow Melting: Direct the flame onto ice or snow to quickly melt it.
    • Fire Starting: Use the torch to ignite kindling or charcoal for campfires, grills, or fire pits.
    • Other Uses: Can be used for searing meat/fish, soldering, wood grain burning, softening asphalt, or removing paint from non-flammable surfaces. Always ensure the surface is non-flammable and take extreme caution.
  4. Safety During Operation: Maintain a safe distance from flammable objects, structures, and people. Never leave the torch unattended while lit.
  5. Shutting Off: When finished, turn the fuel flow knob clockwise until the flame is completely extinguished and the gas flow stops.
