This manual provides essential instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Kinetico Replacement Cartridge Set. This set includes one 9461A High Efficiency Carbon/Sediment Pre-filter Cartridge and one 9306B Granular Activated Carbon Post-filter Cartridge, designed to ensure optimal performance of your Kinetico water filtration system.
Please read these instructions thoroughly before proceeding with the replacement process to ensure proper function and safety.
2. Product Overview
The Kinetico Replacement Cartridge Set is designed for specific Kinetico water filtration systems. The set consists of two distinct cartridges:
- 9461A High Efficiency Carbon/Sediment Pre-filter Cartridge: This cartridge is purple and primarily functions to reduce sediment and chlorine during the initial filtration stage.
- 9306B Granular Activated Carbon Post-filter Cartridge: This cartridge is orange and is responsible for the final stage of filtration, further enhancing water quality.
These cartridges are compatible with Kinetico K5, A200 Aqua-Kinetic Reverse Osmosis, and Kinetico K2 Drinking Water Station systems.

3. Installation Instructions
Follow these steps carefully to replace your Kinetico water filter cartridges:
- Turn Off Water Supply: Locate the cold water supply valve to your Kinetico system and turn it off completely. This is typically a small valve under your sink.
- Depressurize System: Open the dedicated filtered water faucet to relieve any pressure in the system. Allow water to drain until it stops.
- Remove Old Cartridges: Depending on your specific Kinetico model, cartridges are usually removed by twisting them counter-clockwise or by pressing a release button and pulling them out. Refer to your system's specific manual for precise removal instructions. Dispose of old cartridges responsibly.
- Prepare New Cartridges: Remove the protective caps or seals from the new 9461A (purple) and 9306B (orange) cartridges.
- Install New Cartridges:
- Insert the 9461A High Efficiency Carbon/Sediment Pre-filter Cartridge (purple label) into its designated housing. Ensure it is fully seated and twist clockwise until secure.
- Insert the 9306B Granular Activated Carbon Post-filter Cartridge (orange label) into its designated housing. Ensure it is fully seated and twist clockwise until secure.
Note: Ensure the correct cartridge is placed in the correct position as indicated by your system's labeling or manual.
- Restore Water Supply: Slowly turn the cold water supply valve back on.
- Check for Leaks: Carefully inspect all connections for any signs of leaks. If leaks are present, turn off the water supply, re-seat the cartridges, and re-tighten connections.
- Flush the System: Open the filtered water faucet and allow water to run for approximately 10-15 minutes. This flushes out any air and carbon fines from the new cartridges. The water may appear cloudy initially; this is normal and will clear.
- Verify Operation: Close the filtered water faucet. Your Kinetico system is now ready for use with the new cartridges.
4. Operating Instructions
Once installed, the Kinetico replacement cartridges operate automatically as part of your Kinetico water filtration system. No specific user interaction is required for daily operation beyond drawing filtered water from your dedicated faucet.
For optimal performance, ensure the system is used regularly. If the system is left unused for an extended period (e.g., several days or weeks), it is recommended to flush a few gallons of water through the filtered water faucet before consuming.
5. Maintenance
The primary maintenance for your Kinetico water filtration system involves the timely replacement of these cartridges.
- Filter Life: The expected filter life for this set is approximately 1800 gallons or 12 months, whichever comes first. Actual filter life may vary based on water quality and usage.
- Replacement Indicators: Replace cartridges when you notice a significant decrease in water flow, a change in water taste or odor, or at the recommended interval.
- Replacement Procedure: Refer to the "Installation Instructions" section (Section 3) for the cartridge replacement procedure.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues after replacing your cartridges, consider the following:
- Reduced Water Flow:
- Ensure the water supply valve is fully open.
- Verify cartridges are correctly seated and twisted securely.
- Confirm the system was adequately flushed after installation (refer to Section 3, Step 8).
- If cartridges are old, they may be clogged and require replacement.
- Leaks:
- Turn off the water supply immediately.
- Check that cartridges are fully inserted and twisted into their housings.
- Inspect O-rings or seals for damage or improper seating.
- Unpleasant Taste or Odor:
- Ensure the system was adequately flushed after installation (refer to Section 3, Step 8).
- If the taste/odor persists, the cartridges may be exhausted and require replacement.
If troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, contact Kinetico customer support or your local Kinetico dealer for assistance.
