Setup Guide

1. Battery Installation

The camera primarily uses its integrated solar panel for power. For backup power or in low-light conditions, 4 AA alkaline batteries are required (not included). Ensure correct polarity when inserting batteries.

  1. Open the battery compartment cover located at the bottom of the camera.
  2. Insert 4 AA alkaline batteries, observing the polarity markings (+/-).
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely to ensure waterproofing.

2. Micro SD Card Installation

A Micro SD card (TF card) is required for storing photos and videos (not included). The camera supports cards up to a certain capacity (refer to specifications for exact details, typically 32GB or 64GB). Format the Micro SD card before first use.

  1. Locate the Micro SD card slot, usually inside the camera's main housing.
  2. Insert the Micro SD card with the gold contacts facing down until it clicks into place.
  3. To remove, press the card gently until it springs out.

3. Mounting the Camera

The camera can be mounted using the provided strap or other mounting accessories (not included).

Figure 3: The camera securely mounted to a tree trunk using the provided strap, demonstrating its outdoor placement capability.

  1. Choose a suitable location for monitoring, ensuring the solar panel receives adequate sunlight.
  2. Thread the strap through the mounting slots on the back of the camera.
  3. Securely fasten the camera to a tree or pole at the desired height and angle.
  4. Ensure the camera is stable and will not move due to wind or animal activity.

Operating Instructions

1. Powering On/Off

Locate the power switch, typically inside the camera's housing. Switch it to the "ON" position to activate the camera. The camera will enter monitoring mode after a brief startup sequence.

2. Setting Up Camera Parameters (via SD Card)

This model requires configuration via a text file on the Micro SD card. This method allows for precise control over camera settings.

  1. Insert the Micro SD card into a computer.
  2. Locate the configuration file (e.g., "config.txt" or similar) on the root directory of the SD card. If not present, create one according to the specified format (refer to advanced settings in the full manual if available, or common trail camera configuration guides).
  3. Open the configuration file using a plain text editor (e.g., Notepad on Windows, TextEdit on Mac).
  4. Adjust parameters such as:
    • Mode: Photo, Video, or Photo+Video
    • Resolution: Photo (e.g., 20MP), Video (e.g., 1080P)
    • Trigger Interval: Time between detections
    • PIR Sensitivity: Motion sensor sensitivity (High, Medium, Low)
    • Time Stamp: On/Off
    • Date/Time: Set current date and time
  5. Save the changes to the configuration file.
  6. Safely eject the Micro SD card from the computer.
  7. Insert the Micro SD card back into the camera. The camera will read the new settings upon power-up.

3. Capturing Images and Videos

Once powered on and configured, the camera will automatically capture images or videos when motion is detected within its sensor range. The 0.3-second trigger speed ensures quick capture of subjects.

4. Viewing Files

To view captured images and videos:

  1. Turn off the camera.
  2. Remove the Micro SD card from the camera.
  3. Insert the Micro SD card into a computer's card reader.
  4. Access the files on the Micro SD card. Images are typically in JPG format, and videos in AVI or MOV format.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning

  • Regularly clean the camera lens and solar panel with a soft, dry cloth to ensure optimal performance.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the camera's surface or lens.

2. Battery Management

  • While the solar panel provides primary power, regularly check the backup AA batteries, especially during prolonged periods of low sunlight.
  • Replace all AA batteries at the same time with new ones to avoid performance issues.
  • Remove batteries if the camera will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.

3. Micro SD Card Care

  • Format the Micro SD card periodically (e.g., once a month) to maintain optimal performance and prevent data corruption. Back up important files before formatting.
  • Use high-quality Micro SD cards from reputable brands.

4. Environmental Considerations
