Operating Instructions
1. Digital and Analog Mode Switching

Image: The BAOFENG DR-1801UV radio's clear LCD screen displaying two modes: "A Analog" with frequency 144.97500 and "D Digital" with frequency 425.12500, illustrating the dual-mode capability.
The DR-1801UV supports both digital (DMR) and analog communication. The mode is typically set per channel during programming. You can observe the current mode (Analog or Digital) on the LCD screen.
- To switch between modes, navigate to the desired channel. The radio will automatically operate in the mode configured for that channel.
- For VFO (Variable Frequency Oscillator) mode, you may manually select the mode if supported by the firmware. Refer to advanced programming guides for VFO mode specifics.
2. Channel Selection
The radio has 1024 channels. Use the Up/Down arrow keys to navigate through programmed channels. Alternatively, you can enter a channel number directly using the keypad.
3. Volume Control
Rotate the Power/Volume knob clockwise to increase volume and counter-clockwise to decrease volume.
4. Transmitting and Receiving
- Receiving: When a signal is received on the active channel, the radio will automatically output the audio.
- Transmitting: Press and hold the Push-To-Talk (PTT) button on the side of the radio. Speak clearly into the microphone, holding the radio approximately 2-5 cm from your mouth. Release the PTT button to stop transmitting and return to receive mode.
5. SMS Function
