Setup
1. Battery Installation
- Ensure the radio is powered off.
- Align the battery pack with the grooves on the back of the radio.
- Slide the battery upwards until it clicks into place.
- To remove, press the battery release latch (usually at the bottom of the battery) and slide the battery downwards.

2. Antenna Attachment
- Screw the antenna clockwise into the connector on the top of the radio until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.
3. Charging the Battery
- Connect the AC adapter to the desktop charger and plug it into a power outlet.
- Place the radio with the battery installed, or just the battery, into the charging slot.
- The charger indicator light will typically show red during charging and turn green when fully charged.
- A full charge takes approximately 4 hours.
Operating Instructions
1. Power On/Off and Volume Control
- To power on, rotate the Power/Volume knob clockwise until a click is heard.
- Continue rotating to adjust the volume.
- To power off, rotate the knob counter-clockwise until a click is heard.
2. Channel Selection and Frequency Adjustment
- Use the Up/Down arrow keys to navigate through programmed channels.
- In VFO (Variable Frequency Oscillator) mode, use the keypad to directly input frequencies or the arrow keys to step through frequencies.
- Press the VFO/MR button to switch between Channel Mode and VFO Mode.
3. Digital and Analog Mode Switching
- The DR-1801UV automatically detects the mode of an incoming signal.
- When transmitting, the radio will use the mode configured for the selected channel. Channels can be programmed for either digital or analog operation.

4. Transmitting and Receiving
- To transmit, press and hold the PTT (Push-To-Talk) button on the side of the radio. Speak clearly into the microphone.
- Release the PTT button to receive.
- Ensure you are on an appropriate channel and within range for effective communication.

7. DMO True 2 Time Slot
- In Direct Mode Operation (DMO), the radio can utilize two time slots on a single frequency.
