Figure 4.1: Rear view of the recorder displaying the terminal block for power, alarm, RS485, print, analog inputs (current, voltage, RTD, TC), and analog outputs.
- Power Supply (L+/N-/- PE): Connect the AC100-240V, 50HZ power supply to the designated terminals. Ensure proper grounding.
- Alarm Outputs (R1, R2, R3): Connect external alarm devices to these relay outputs as required.
- Analog Inputs (I, U, RTD, TC): Connect your industrial sensors (current transmitters, voltage sensors, RTD sensors, thermocouples) to the corresponding input terminals. The device supports various signal types including 0-5V, 0-100mV, 4-20mA, 0-20mA, Thermocouples (E/K/J/T/S/B/R/N), and RTD (Pt100/Cu50). Ensure correct polarity and wiring for each sensor type.
- RS485 (A, B, G, T): For RS485 communication, connect to compatible devices using the standard RTU protocol.
- Print (R, T, G): Connect a micro printer (3.3V TTL level interface) if hardcopy reports are desired.
- Analog Outputs (mA): Connect external devices that require analog output signals.
- USB (USB 2.0): The USB port is located on the front panel, typically used for data export to a U disk.
4.3 Initial Power On
- After all connections are securely made, connect the power supply.
- The device will power on and initiate a preheat period of approximately 30 minutes to ensure stable and accurate readings.
- The LCD display will show the startup screen, followed by the main measurement interface.
5. Operating Instructions
This section provides guidance on operating the Fockety Digital Temperature Data Logger Recorder.
5.1 Display and Navigation

Figure 5.1: The recorder's front panel with the 4-inch LCD display and navigation buttons (Up, Down, Left, Right, C, OK).
The 4-inch color LCD display provides a clear interface for viewing real-time data, historical curves, and system settings. Navigation is performed using the buttons located on the right side of the display:
- Arrow Buttons (Up, Down, Left, Right): Used for navigating menus, adjusting values, and scrolling through data.
- 'C' Button: Typically used for 'Cancel' or 'Clear' functions, or to return to the previous menu.
- 'OK' Button: Used to confirm selections or enter sub-menus.
5.2 Real-time Monitoring
Upon startup, the device defaults to a real-time monitoring screen, displaying current values from connected channels. You can switch between different display modes (e.g., numerical values, bar graphs, curve charts) using the navigation buttons.

Figure 5.2: The display showing a multi-channel curve chart, illustrating the device's ability to visualize data trends over time for various signal types.
The device can accurately display real-time and historical curves, allowing users to easily track trends in production or experimental processes.
5.3 Data Logging and Storage
The recorder automatically logs data based on the configured recording interval. The device has 128MB of internal memory, capable of storing up to 900,000 records. The recording duration varies depending on the selected interval:
- At a 1-second interval, data can be recorded for approximately 10 days.
- Longer intervals (e.g., 1 hour) allow for significantly extended recording durations, up to 15 years.
The recording duration is independent of the number of active channels.
5.4 Configuration Settings
Access the system settings menu using the navigation buttons to customize parameters such as:
- Sampling Interval: Adjust the frequency of data recording.
- Alarm Ranges: Set upper and lower thresholds for each channel. The device stores 256 alarm records.
- Channel Configuration: Define sensor types and scaling for each input channel.
- Date and Time: Set the internal clock.
- Display Settings: Adjust brightness, contrast, or display mode.
5.5 Data Export and Reporting
The device features a built-in USB 2.0 port. To export data or print reports:
- Insert a USB flash drive into the USB port.
- Navigate to the data export menu on the device.
- Select the desired data range or report type for export.
- The device can generate reports directly to the USB drive, which can then be connected to a PC for viewing or printing. No special software is required on the PC.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your data logger.
- Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the device with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Environmental Conditions: Ensure the device operates within its specified temperature and humidity ranges. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, or high humidity.
- Connections: Periodically check all electrical connections for tightness and signs of corrosion.
- Firmware Updates: Check the manufacturer's website for any available firmware updates that may improve performance or add new features.
