3. Setup
3.1 Setting the TSA Combination Lock
Your Kono suitcase is equipped with a TSA-approved combination lock. The initial password is set to 0-0-0. Follow these steps to set your personal combination:
- Ensure the lock is set to the initial combination (0-0-0) and push the button to unlock the zippers.
- Locate the small reset button (usually a small hole) on the side of the lock. Use a pen or a pointed object to press and hold this button until you hear a click.
- While holding the reset button, rotate the dials to your desired three-digit combination.
- Release the reset button. Your new combination is now set. Test it by scrambling the numbers and then entering your new combination to open the lock.
Important: Remember your combination. There is no master key for personal combinations, and Kono cannot assist in opening your lock if the combination is forgotten.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning the Exterior
To clean the polypropylene hardshell, wipe with a soft cloth dampened with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the surface. Dry thoroughly after cleaning.
5.2 Wheel and Zipper Care
- Wheels: Periodically check the wheels for debris (hair, lint, dirt) and remove them to ensure smooth rolling. If wheels become stiff, a small amount of silicone-based lubricant can be applied to the axle.
- Zippers: Keep zippers clean and free of obstructions. If a zipper becomes stiff, apply a small amount of zipper lubricant or wax. Avoid forcing stuck zippers.
6. Troubleshooting
- Lock Not Opening: Ensure you are using the correct combination. If you forgot your combination, refer to section 3.1 for resetting instructions (if applicable, for TSA locks, only TSA agents can open without the code). If the lock mechanism is jammed, do not force it.
- Stiff or Stuck Wheels: Check for debris caught in the wheel mechanism. Clean thoroughly. If the issue persists, apply a silicone lubricant.
- Zipper Issues: If a zipper is difficult to move, check for fabric caught in the teeth. Gently pull the fabric free. Apply zipper lubricant if needed. Avoid excessive force, which can damage the zipper.
- Handle Not Extending/Retracting Smoothly: Check for any obstructions in the handle mechanism. Ensure the release button is fully pressed. If bent or damaged, avoid forcing it to prevent further damage.
