2. Safety Information

5. Setup
5.1 Powering the Device
The QFX J-300BT offers three power options:
- AC Power: Connect the supplied AC power cable to the AC input on the rear of the boombox and then to a standard wall outlet.
- DC Batteries: For portable use without recharging, open the battery compartment on the rear and insert the required number of D-size batteries (not included), ensuring correct polarity.
- Rechargeable Battery: The unit has a built-in rechargeable battery. Connect the AC power cable to charge the internal battery. The charging indicator (if present) will illuminate.
5.2 Initial Charging
Before first use, it is recommended to fully charge the internal rechargeable battery. Connect the boombox to AC power for approximately 4-6 hours. The unit can be used while charging.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Radio Operation (AM/FM/SW1-2)
- Set the Function Selector to 'Radio'.
- Select the desired band (AM, FM, SW1, or SW2) using the Band Selector.
- Extend the telescoping antenna for optimal FM and SW reception. For AM, rotate the unit for best reception.
- Rotate the Tuning Knob to search for radio stations.
- Adjust the Volume Control to your preferred listening level.
6.2 Cassette Player/Recorder Operation
Playing a Cassette Tape
- Set the Function Selector to 'Tape'.
- Press the Stop/Eject button to open the cassette compartment.
- Insert a cassette tape with the open edge facing upwards. Close the compartment.
- Press the Play button to start playback.
- Use F.FWD or REW to fast forward or rewind the tape.
- Press Pause to temporarily stop playback, and press again to resume.
- Press Stop/Eject to stop playback and eject the tape.
Recording to Cassette Tape
You can record from the radio, Bluetooth, USB/SD, or the built-in microphone to a cassette tape.
- Insert a recordable cassette tape into the compartment.
- Select the desired input source (Radio, Bluetooth, USB/SD, or ensure the microphone is active).
- Press the Record button (red button). The Play button will also engage simultaneously.
- To stop recording, press the Stop/Eject button.
- For 'One Touch Recording', ensure the desired audio source is playing, then press the 'One Touch Recording' button. This will automatically start recording to the cassette.
6.3 Bluetooth Pairing
- Set the Function Selector to 'Bluetooth'. The unit will enter pairing mode, indicated by a flashing Bluetooth indicator.
- Enable Bluetooth on your mobile device (smartphone, tablet, etc.).
- Search for available devices and select "QFX J-300BT" (or similar name) from the list.
- Once paired, the Bluetooth indicator will stop flashing, and you can play audio from your device through the boombox.
6.4 USB/SD Playback and Recording
Playback
- Insert a USB flash drive into the USB port or an SD card into the SD card slot.
- Set the Function Selector to 'USB/SD'. The unit will automatically begin playing compatible audio files.
- Use the playback controls (Play/Pause, Next/Previous Track) to navigate your music.
Recording to USB/SD
You can record audio from the radio, cassette, or built-in microphone directly to a USB flash drive or SD card.
- Insert a USB flash drive or SD card with sufficient free space.
- Select the desired input source (Radio, Tape, or ensure the microphone is active).
- Press the dedicated USB Record button (if available) or follow the general recording procedure for the selected source, ensuring the output is directed to USB/SD.
- Press the Stop button to end the recording.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Cassette Head Cleaning: Periodically clean the cassette heads, pinch roller, and capstan with a cotton swab lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol to ensure optimal sound quality and prevent tape damage.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the boombox in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove DC batteries if not using for a long time.
- Battery Care: To prolong the life of the internal rechargeable battery, avoid fully discharging it frequently. Recharge it regularly, even if the unit is not in constant use.
