1. Important Safety Information
This high voltage approach alarm is designed to provide an additional layer of safety for workers in high voltage environments. It is crucial to understand its function and limitations.
- This alarm is NOT a voltage detector. It must not be used as a primary voltage detection device.
- High voltage operations are inherently dangerous. Operators must undergo rigorous training and possess appropriate high voltage operation certifications before using this instrument on site.
- This alarm provides safety assistance measures only. Do not overestimate the safety guarantee after using this alarm.
- When near grounded metal structures (e.g., transformers), the alarm's operating distance may not be reduced. Always maintain safe working distances as per industry standards.
2. Product Overview
The PerGar ETCR-1880 is a non-contact high voltage approach electric alarm designed to be worn on a safety helmet. It provides audible and visual alerts when approaching high voltage sources within a specified range.

3. Setup
3.1 Battery Installation
The ETCR-1880 requires two CR1632 button cell batteries (not included). To install or replace batteries:
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the alarm unit.
- Carefully open the compartment cover.
- Insert two CR1632 batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
3.2 Attaching to Safety Helmet
The alarm is designed to be worn on a safety helmet using its elastic band and adhesive pad.
- Ensure your safety helmet is clean and dry where the alarm will be attached.
- Place the alarm unit on the front of your safety helmet.
- Adjust the elastic band to fit snugly around the helmet, securing it with the buttons.
- Ensure the triangular sign on the alarm unit points in the direction of your fingertips when worn, indicating the primary detection direction.

4. Operating Instructions
The ETCR-1880 operates in an automatic trigger detection mode, constantly monitoring for high voltage fields.
4.1 Power On/Off
The device powers on automatically when batteries are installed. There is no manual on/off switch. It enters a standby mode to conserve battery when not detecting voltage.
4.2 Detection and Alarm
When the alarm approaches a high voltage source within its detection range, it will activate both visual and audible alarms:
- Indicator Light: The LED indicator will flash, visible even under bright light (8000LX).
- Buzzer: An audible alarm will sound, exceeding 60 dB at a distance of 60 cm.
The alarm will continue until the device is moved away from the high voltage source.

4.3 Test Button
Press the 'TEST' button on the unit to verify the functionality of the indicator light and buzzer. This should be done before each use to ensure the device is working correctly.

6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the casing or internal components.
6.2 Battery Replacement
Replace batteries when the alarm performance degrades or if the test function fails. Refer to Section 3.1 for battery installation instructions. Always use two new CR1632 batteries.
6.3 Storage
When not in use for extended periods, store the device in a cool, dry place within the specified storage temperature and humidity ranges (-10 ℃ to 60 ℃; < 70% RH). Remove batteries if storing for very long durations to prevent leakage.
7. Troubleshooting
If the ETCR-1880 does not function as expected, consider the following:
- No Alarm: Check if the batteries are correctly installed and have sufficient charge. Replace batteries if necessary.
- Weak Alarm: This may indicate low battery power. Replace batteries.
- False Alarms: Ensure the device is not in close proximity to other strong electromagnetic fields or grounded metal structures that might interfere with its operation.
