4. Setup and Installation

The XP0H-SN is a standalone unit and does not require complex wiring. It is designed for easy installation.

  1. Choose Location: Select a suitable location for the alarm. For optimal smoke detection, install on the ceiling in the center of a room or at least 4 inches (10 cm) from any wall. For carbon monoxide detection, install at least 5 feet (1.5 m) from the floor. Avoid installing near windows, doors, or areas with high humidity or extreme temperatures.
  2. Mount the Bracket: Use the provided screws and anchor plugs to securely attach the large mounting bracket to the ceiling or wall. The large 5.7-inch (145 mm) bracket is designed to cover existing marks for a neat finish.
  3. Activate the Alarm: Once the mounting bracket is secured, align the alarm with the bracket and twist clockwise to lock it into place. The alarm will automatically activate upon proper installation into the mounting bracket.

5. Operating Instructions

The X-Sense XP0H-SN operates continuously once activated. The LCD screen will display '0 PPM' under normal conditions, indicating no detectable carbon monoxide. The battery life is approximately 10 years.

  1. Testing the Alarm: Press the 'TEST/SILENCE' button located on the front of the alarm. The alarm will emit a loud siren and the LCD will illuminate, indicating proper functionality. This also tests the sensors, electronics, and battery.
  2. Silencing the Alarm: In case of a nuisance alarm (e.g., from cooking smoke), press the 'TEST/SILENCE' button to temporarily silence the alarm. The alarm will automatically reset after a few minutes if the smoke/CO levels return to normal.
  3. Understanding the LCD: The LCD displays real-time carbon monoxide (CO) levels in parts per million (PPM) and a battery life indicator. It remains off during standby to conserve power and avoid disturbance, lighting up only during alarms or when the test button is pressed.
