4. Setup Instructions
4.1 Initial Inspection
Before playing, carefully inspect your guitar for any signs of damage that may have occurred during shipping. Check the body, neck, headstock, and bridge for cracks or loose components.
4.2 String Installation (If needed)
Your guitar comes pre-strung. If you need to replace strings, use the included extra set or a compatible set of steel strings. Ensure strings are properly seated in the bridge pins and wound securely around the tuning machine posts. Improper stringing can affect tuning stability and tone.
4.3 Tuning the Guitar
Accurate tuning is crucial for proper sound. Your kit includes two tuning options:
4.3.1 Using the Built-in EQ-400T Tuner
- Press the 'Tuner' button on the EQ-400T preamp unit to activate the tuner. The display will illuminate.
- Pluck each string individually. The display will show the note being played and indicate if it is sharp (too high) or flat (too low).
- Adjust the corresponding tuning machine head until the display shows the correct note and the indicator is centered.
- The standard tuning for a 6-string guitar is E-A-D-G-B-e (from thickest to thinnest string).
- A 'Low Batt' indicator on the EQ unit signifies that the 9V battery needs replacement.
4.3.2 Using the Rechargeable Clip-on Digital Tuner
- Clip the tuner onto the headstock of your guitar.
- Press the power button to turn it on.
- Pluck each string individually. The tuner will detect the vibrations and display the note.
- Adjust the tuning machine head until the tuner indicates the correct pitch.
- Recharge the tuner using the provided USB cable when its battery is low.

4.4 Attaching the Guitar Strap
Attach one end of the guitar strap to the strap button located at the bottom of the guitar body. Attach the other end to the strap button located near the neck joint.
4.5 Applying the Pick Guard
The included pick guard is peel-and-stick. Carefully align it to the area below the soundhole where you typically strum, then peel off the backing and press it firmly onto the guitar's top. This protects the finish from pick scratches.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Understanding the 4-Band EQ (EQ-400T)
The integrated EQ-400T preamp allows you to shape your guitar's amplified tone. It features the following controls:
- Volume: Controls the overall output level of the amplified signal.
- Bass: Adjusts the low-frequency response, adding warmth or depth.
- Middle: Adjusts the mid-frequency response, affecting the guitar's presence and cut.
- Treble: Adjusts the high-frequency response, adding brightness or clarity.
- Presence: Further enhances or cuts very high frequencies, affecting the attack and sparkle of the sound.
- Low Batt Indicator: Illuminates when the 9V battery powering the preamp needs to be replaced.

Image 5.1: Close-up of the 4-band adjustable EQ-400T preamp unit, showing the controls and the 1/4" output jack.
5.2 Connecting to an Amplifier
To use your guitar as an electric instrument, connect a standard 1/4" instrument cable from the output jack on the EQ-400T unit to your guitar amplifier. Adjust the volume on both the guitar's EQ and your amplifier to achieve the desired sound level.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
- Body: Wipe the guitar body with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth after each use to remove sweat and fingerprints. For deeper cleaning, use a guitar-specific polish sparingly.
- Fretboard: Periodically clean the fretboard with a specialized fretboard cleaner and conditioner to prevent drying and cracking.
- Strings: Wipe down strings after playing to remove oils and dirt, which can extend their life and maintain tone.
6.2 String Replacement
Strings lose their brightness and intonation over time. Replace strings regularly, especially if they sound dull, show signs of corrosion, or break. Refer to section 4.2 for general string installation guidance.
6.3 Humidity and Temperature Control
Wood instruments are sensitive to changes in humidity and temperature. Store your guitar in a stable environment, ideally between 45-55% relative humidity and 65-75°F (18-24°C). Avoid extreme heat, cold, or rapid changes, which can cause warping or cracking.
6.4 Using the Gig Bag
The included gig bag provides protection against dust, minor bumps, and scratches during transport and storage. Always use the gig bag when moving your guitar.

7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Pyle PEAG200.5 guitar, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- No Sound from Amplifier:
- Ensure the 1/4" instrument cable is securely connected to both the guitar's output jack and the amplifier's input.
- Check if the amplifier is powered on and its volume is turned up.
- Verify that the 9V battery in the EQ-400T preamp is not depleted. Replace if the 'Low Batt' indicator is on. - Tuning Instability:
- New strings often stretch and require frequent re-tuning for the first few days. Gently stretch them after tuning.
- Ensure strings are properly wound around the tuning posts (2-3 wraps are ideal).
- Check for environmental factors like extreme temperature or humidity changes. - Built-in Tuner Not Detecting Low E String (or other strings):
- Ensure the tuner is activated and the guitar is being played in a quiet environment.
- Pluck the string firmly and clearly. Sometimes a weak signal or background noise can interfere.
- Check the 9V battery in the EQ-400T preamp. A low battery can affect tuner performance. - Buzzing Frets:
- This can be caused by low string action, worn frets, or improper neck relief. Minor adjustments to the truss rod (using the included Allen wrench) or bridge saddle height may be necessary. If unsure, consult a qualified guitar technician. - Dull or Muffled Sound:
- Old or dirty strings can significantly impact tone. Consider replacing them.
- Adjust the Bass, Middle, Treble, and Presence controls on the EQ-400T preamp and your amplifier to brighten the sound.
