Display and Backlight
The meter features a three-color backlight system to provide a quick visual indication of moisture levels:
- Green: Indicates low moisture content.
- Orange: Indicates moderate moisture content.

Setup
Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment cover at the top of the meter.
- Twist the cover counter-clockwise to open.
- Insert two 1.5V AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Replace the battery compartment cover and twist clockwise to secure.
A low-battery indicator will appear on the display when battery replacement is necessary.
Operating Instructions
Power On/Off
- To power on, press the Power/Hold button (⏻ / H).
- To power off, press and hold the Power/Hold button (⏻ / H) for approximately 2 seconds.
- The meter will automatically power off after ten minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life.
Selecting Material Mode
The TWM-186 offers two main modes and seven calibration scales for various materials.
- Remove the protective cap from the measurement pins.
- Press the Mode button (M) to cycle through the available material categories (1-7). The selected category number will be displayed in the lower-left corner of the LCD.
- Refer to the "Calibration Scales" section to select the appropriate category for your material.

Taking a Measurement
- Ensure the correct material mode is selected.
- Carefully insert the measurement pins into the material. Ensure both pins penetrate the surface to obtain an accurate reading.
- The moisture level will be displayed as a percentage on the LCD.

Data Hold Function
To hold the current reading on the display, short press the Power/Hold button (⏻ / H) during a measurement. Press it again to release the hold and resume live readings.

Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the meter with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the meter in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Always replace the protective cap over the pins when storing.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the low-battery indicator appears on the display. Dispose of old batteries responsibly.
- Pin Condition: Regularly inspect the measurement pins for damage or bending. Damaged pins can affect accuracy.
Troubleshooting
