Display and Backlight

The meter features a three-color backlight system to provide a quick visual indication of moisture levels:

Setup

Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover at the top of the meter.
  2. Twist the cover counter-clockwise to open.
  3. Insert two 1.5V AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover and twist clockwise to secure.

A low-battery indicator will appear on the display when battery replacement is necessary.

Power On/Off

Selecting Material Mode

The TWM-186 offers two main modes and seven calibration scales for various materials.

  1. Remove the protective cap from the measurement pins.
  2. Press the Mode button (M) to cycle through the available material categories (1-7). The selected category number will be displayed in the lower-left corner of the LCD.
  3. Refer to the "Calibration Scales" section to select the appropriate category for your material.

Taking a Measurement

  1. Ensure the correct material mode is selected.
  2. Carefully insert the measurement pins into the material. Ensure both pins penetrate the surface to obtain an accurate reading.
  3. The moisture level will be displayed as a percentage on the LCD.

Data Hold Function

To hold the current reading on the display, short press the Power/Hold button ( / H) during a measurement. Press it again to release the hold and resume live readings.

The TESMEN TWM-186 features seven calibration scales, categorized into two modes, to accurately measure moisture in various wood and building materials.

Maintenance

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
