5.1 Switching Modes

  • Button Switching: Press the PC1, PC2, PC3, or PC4 buttons on the front panel of the KVM switch to select the desired computer. The corresponding LED indicator will light up.
  • Wired Remote Control: Connect the wired remote to the SW port on the front panel. Press the button on the remote to cycle through the connected computers. This allows switching from a distance of up to 5 feet.

  • Keyboard Hotkeys: Use specific key combinations on your connected keyboard to switch inputs. This functionality requires the keyboard to be connected to the dedicated K/M port. The default hotkey sequence is: Press '*' (asterisk) twice, then press '1', '2', '3', or '4' to switch to the corresponding PC. For example, to switch to PC1, press * then * then 1.

  • Mouse Switching: This mode allows switching by double-clicking the scroll wheel of your mouse. Ensure your mouse is connected to the dedicated K/M port.
  • Auto-Switching (Timed Loop): The KVM switch can be configured to automatically cycle through inputs at a set interval. Refer to the advanced settings section (if available in the full manual) for configuration details.

Important Note:

  • The K/M ports only support standard office keyboards and mice. Gaming keyboards, Apple keyboards, or other non-standard input devices may not support hotkey or mouse switching.
  • The five switching modes cannot operate simultaneously. Select one preferred method for operation.

5.2 USB and KVM Functions

  • KVM Function: The two dedicated K/M ports allow 4 computers to share 1 keyboard and 1 mouse.
  • USB 2.0 Function: The two front USB 2.0 ports allow 2 computers to share 1 printer, U disk, scanner, or other USB 2.0 devices.

7. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your KVM switch:

  • Keep the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • Avoid exposing the device to moisture or liquids.
  • Clean the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Ensure proper ventilation around the device to prevent overheating.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your KVM switch, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

8.1 No Video Signal or Flickering Display

  • Check Cables: Ensure all DisplayPort cables are securely connected to both the KVM switch and your computers/monitor.
  • Cable Quality: Use high-quality DisplayPort 1.4 certified cables, especially for 8K resolutions. Inferior cables can cause signal loss or flickering.
  • Direct Connection Test: Connect your computer directly to the monitor (bypassing the KVM switch) to verify that the computer's video output and monitor are functioning correctly.
  • Power Cycle: Disconnect and reconnect the power adapter to the KVM switch.
  • Resolution Settings: Ensure your computer's display settings are compatible with the KVM switch and monitor's capabilities.

8.2 Keyboard or Mouse Not Responding/Switching

  • Dedicated K/M Ports: Ensure your keyboard and mouse are connected to the dedicated K/M ports on the rear panel of the KVM switch. Connecting them to the front USB 2.0 ports will disable hotkey/mouse switching.
  • Standard Devices: Verify that your keyboard and mouse are standard office models. Gaming or specialized input devices may not be fully compatible with KVM hotkey functions.
  • USB Cable Connection: Ensure the USB-B to USB-A cables from your computers to the KVM switch are securely connected.
  • Try Different Ports: If one K/M port is not working, try the other.

8.3 Switching Issues

  • Confirm Active Mode: Remember that only one switching mode (button, remote, hotkey, mouse, auto) can be active at a time. Ensure you are using the intended method.
  • Hotkey Sequence: Double-check the hotkey sequence (e.g., `*` `*` `1`). Ensure there are no delays between key presses.
  • Wired Remote: Ensure the wired remote is securely plugged into the SW port.
