Important Safeguards

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons. Read all instructions carefully before use.

  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  • To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse cord, plugs, or the appliance in water or other liquid.
  • Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  • Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
  • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner.
  • The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  • Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to 'off', then remove plug from wall outlet.
  • Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
  • Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the brewing cycle.

Before First Use

Before using your coffee maker for the first time, it is recommended to clean all removable parts and run a few cycles with water only.

  1. Unpack the coffee maker and remove all packaging materials.
  2. Wash the reusable coffee filter, K-Cup pod holder, and drip tray in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
  3. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth.
  4. Fill the water reservoir with clean water up to the MAX fill line.
  5. Place a large mug or container on the drip tray.
  6. Close the brew head lid.
  7. Press the Power/Brew button to run a water-only cycle. Discard the hot water.
  8. Repeat steps 4-7 two more times to ensure the system is clean.

Operating Instructions

Brewing with K-Cup Pods

  1. Ensure the coffee maker is plugged into a standard electrical outlet.
  2. Lift the water reservoir lid and fill the reservoir with the desired amount of fresh water (6 to 14 oz). Do not exceed the MAX fill line.
  3. Lift the brew head handle to open the K-Cup pod holder.
  4. Insert a K-Cup pod into the holder, ensuring it is seated correctly.
  5. Close the brew head handle firmly until it clicks into place.
  6. Place your mug on the adjustable cup lift platform. Adjust the platform height as needed to minimize splashing.
  7. Press the Power/Brew button. The light will illuminate, indicating brewing has started.
  8. Brewing will stop automatically once the cycle is complete. The light will turn off.
  9. Carefully remove your mug and enjoy your coffee.
  10. After brewing, lift the brew head handle to remove and discard the used K-Cup pod.

Brewing with Ground Coffee

  1. Follow steps 1 and 2 from 'Brewing with K-Cup Pods'.
  2. Lift the brew head handle.
  3. Place the reusable coffee filter into the K-Cup pod holder.
  4. Add your desired amount of ground coffee into the reusable filter. Do not overfill.
  5. Close the brew head handle firmly until it clicks into place.
  6. Place your mug on the adjustable cup lift platform.
  7. Press the Power/Brew button. The light will illuminate, indicating brewing has started.
  8. Brewing will stop automatically once the cycle is complete. The light will turn off.
  9. Carefully remove your mug and enjoy your coffee.
  10. After brewing, lift the brew head handle to remove the reusable filter and discard the used coffee grounds.

Adjustable Cup Lift

The coffee maker features an adjustable cup lift platform to accommodate various mug sizes, from standard coffee cups to travel mugs up to 16 oz. Simply slide the platform up or down to the desired height before brewing to prevent splashing.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee maker.

Daily Cleaning

  • Always unplug the coffee maker before cleaning.
  • Remove and wash the K-Cup pod holder/reusable filter and drip tray in warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
  • Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
  • Do not immerse the coffee maker in water or any other liquid.

Descaling

Mineral deposits (calcium and lime) can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting performance. Descale your machine every 3-6 months, or more frequently if you have hard water.

  1. Fill the water reservoir with a mixture of one part white vinegar and two parts water.
  2. Place a large mug on the drip tray.
  3. Run a brew cycle without a K-Cup pod or ground coffee.
  4. After the cycle, let the coffee maker sit for 30 minutes with the vinegar solution inside.
  5. Run another brew cycle.
  6. Repeat the process with fresh water only at least three times to rinse out any vinegar residue.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your coffee maker, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
