MOZA R12 Direct Drive Wheel Base Instruction Manual

Model: R12

1. Introduction

This manual provides essential instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your MOZA R12 Direct Drive Wheel Base. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the product to ensure proper function and safety. The MOZA R12 is designed to deliver a realistic and immersive sim racing experience through its direct drive force feedback system.

2. Safety Information

Observe the following safety precautions to prevent injury or damage to the product:

  • Power Supply: Use only the original power adapter provided with the MOZA R12 Wheel Base. Using an incorrect power supply can damage the device and void the warranty.
  • Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation around the wheel base. Do not block ventilation openings. Overheating can lead to performance degradation or damage.
  • Placement: Install the wheel base on a stable, flat surface or a compatible sim racing rig. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight, near heat sources, or in excessively humid or dusty environments.
  • Force Feedback: The MOZA R12 generates strong force feedback. Keep hands and fingers clear of the rotating shaft when the device is powered on. Adjust force feedback settings to a comfortable level to prevent strain or injury.
  • Children and Pets: Keep the device out of reach of children and pets.
  • Liquid Exposure: Do not expose the device to water or other liquids.
  • Disassembly: Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the wheel base. This will void the warranty and may cause damage or injury.

3. Setup

3.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that all items listed in the packing list are present. Retain the original packaging for future transport or storage.

3.2 Mounting the Wheel Base

The MOZA R12 Wheel Base can be mounted to a compatible sim racing cockpit or desk mount using the provided screws and mounting holes. Ensure the mounting surface is sturdy enough to withstand the forces generated by the wheel base.

  1. Position the wheel base on your mounting solution.
  2. Align the mounting holes on the wheel base with those on your rig or mount.
  3. Secure the wheel base using appropriate bolts. Do not overtighten.

3.3 Connecting Cables

Connect the necessary cables as follows:

  • Power Cable: Connect the power adapter to the power input port on the rear of the wheel base, then plug the adapter into a wall outlet.
  • USB Cable: Connect the USB-B end of the provided USB cable to the wheel base and the USB-A end to an available USB port on your PC.
  • Emergency Stop (Optional): If using an external emergency stop button, connect it to the designated port.

3.4 Software Installation

Download and install the latest version of MOZA Pit House software and drivers from the official MOZA Racing website. This software is essential for configuring your wheel base, updating firmware, and adjusting force feedback settings.

  1. Visit the official MOZA Racing support page.
  2. Download the MOZA Pit House software installer.
  3. Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
  4. Restart your PC if prompted.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Powering On/Off

To power on the wheel base, ensure all cables are connected, then press the power button located on the front or side of the unit. The indicator light will illuminate. To power off, press and hold the power button until the unit shuts down.

4.2 Attaching/Detaching Steering Wheels

The MOZA R12 uses a quick-release system for attaching steering wheels.

  • Attaching: Align the quick-release mechanism on your MOZA steering wheel with the shaft of the R12 Wheel Base. Push the wheel firmly onto the shaft until it clicks into place. Ensure it is securely locked.
  • Detaching: Pull back the quick-release collar on the steering wheel, then gently pull the wheel away from the wheel base.

4.3 Adjusting Settings with MOZA Pit House

MOZA Pit House software allows for detailed configuration of your R12 Wheel Base:

  • Force Feedback Settings: Adjust overall force, damping, friction, inertia, and other parameters to fine-tune the feel of your force feedback.
  • Steering Angle: Set the maximum rotation angle of the wheel.
  • Game Profiles: Create and save custom settings profiles for different racing simulations.
  • Firmware Updates: Check for and install the latest firmware for optimal performance and new features.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

Regularly clean the exterior of the wheel base with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or excessive moisture. Ensure no dust or debris accumulates in the ventilation openings.

5.2 Firmware Updates

Periodically check for firmware updates via the MOZA Pit House software. Keeping your firmware up-to-date ensures the best performance, compatibility, and access to new features.

5.3 Storage

When not in use for extended periods, store the wheel base in a dry, dust-free environment. If possible, use the original packaging for protection.
