This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation of your OMTech 30W Fiber Laser Engraver. Please read it thoroughly before setup and use to ensure optimal performance and safety.
1.1. Safety Information
Laser Class 2: This device is a Class 2 laser product with an output power of 0.874 mW. Always follow safety guidelines to prevent injury.
- Never look directly into the laser beam.
- Ensure proper ventilation in your workspace.

2. Setup
2.1. Unpacking and Component Identification
Carefully unpack all components. Verify that all parts are present according to the packing list. The main components include the laser unit, galvo head, and rotary axis.

2.2. Physical Setup
Place the laser engraver on a stable, level surface. Ensure adequate space around the machine for ventilation and safe operation. The product dimensions are approximately 30.5 x 17.7 x 31.1 inches and it weighs 120 pounds.
2.3. Connecting to Power and Computer
- Connect the power cable to the laser unit and a grounded electrical outlet.
- Connect the laser unit to your computer via a USB cable.
- Ensure the emergency stop button is disengaged (pulled out) and the key is in the 'ON' position.
2.4. Software Installation and Connection
This engraver is compatible with LightBurn and includes EZCAD2 software for Windows. Install the software on your computer. For LightBurn, follow the device discovery wizard to connect your machine.

3. Operating Instructions
3.1. Basic Engraving Process
- Prepare your design in LightBurn or EZCAD2.
- Place your material on the workbed. The spacious 6.9"x6.9" (175x175 mm) work area accommodates various projects.
- Use the Red Dot Locators for precise positioning and focusing.
- Adjust laser parameters (power, speed, frequency) based on your material and desired effect.
- Initiate the engraving process from the software.

3.2. Engraving with Rotary Axis
The included rotary axis expands engraving capabilities, allowing you to engrave on curved surfaces such as tumblers, rings, and pens.
- Attach the rotary axis to the engraver according to the assembly instructions.
- Secure your cylindrical object in the rotary chuck.
- Configure the rotary axis settings in your engraving software.
- Proceed with the engraving process as usual, ensuring proper focus and alignment.

3.3. Material Compatibility and Performance
This 30W fiber laser engraver is designed for marking and etching a wide range of materials, including metals (steel, gold, silver, brass, aluminum, etc.) and certain plastics. It offers high precision with 0.1mm accuracy and speeds up to 275.6 ips (7000 mm/s).

4. Maintenance
4.1. Cleaning the Lens
Regularly inspect and clean the F-Theta scanning lens to maintain engraving quality. Use a soft, lint-free cloth and lens cleaning solution specifically designed for optical components. The lens features K9 / BK7 Crown Glass with 5-Layer Protective & Antireflective Coating.
4.2. General Cleaning
Keep the work area and the exterior of the machine clean and free of dust and debris. Use a soft cloth to wipe down surfaces. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
4.3. Software Updates
Periodically check for software updates for LightBurn and EZCAD2 to ensure you have the latest features and bug fixes. Refer to the software provider's website for update procedures.
5. Troubleshooting

5.1. Connection Issues
- Problem: Software does not detect the laser.
- Solution: Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the machine and the computer. Restart the software and the laser unit. Check device drivers.

- Solution: Verify that the laser is properly focused using the red dot locators. Clean the lens if it appears dirty. Adjust power and speed settings for the specific material.

- Problem: The laser unit is powered on but unresponsive.
- Solution: Check the emergency stop button to ensure it is disengaged. Verify the key switch is in the 'ON' position. Restart the machine and software.
