4. Operating Instructions
Once installed, your First Alert SMCO100 alarm operates continuously. Here's how to interact with it:
- Normal Operation: A green LED light will flash approximately once every 60 seconds to indicate that the alarm is receiving power and functioning correctly.
- Testing the Alarm: Press and hold the Test/Silence button for a few seconds. The alarm will sound a series of beeps, indicating that the smoke and CO sensing functions are working. Release the button to stop the test. Test your alarm weekly.
- Silencing Nuisance Alarms: If the alarm sounds due to non-emergency conditions (e.g., cooking smoke), press the Test/Silence button to temporarily silence it for several minutes. The alarm will automatically reset after the silence period if the condition has cleared.
- Alarm Indications:
