4. Setup

Battery Installation:

  1. Locate the battery cover on the back of the thermometer.

  3. Insert the two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

  • To Power On: Short press the 'Measure' button (temperature icon). The device will perform a self-test and display the last reading.
  • To Power Off: The device will automatically shut down after approximately 30 seconds of inactivity to conserve battery life.

5.2 Mode Selection (Forehead/Ear)

The thermometer automatically detects the measurement mode based on the presence of the probe cover:

  • Forehead Mode: Keep the probe cover attached. An icon resembling a forehead will appear on the LCD.
  • Ear Mode: Remove the probe cover. An icon resembling an ear will appear on the LCD.

5.3 Taking a Temperature

Forehead Measurement:

  1. Ensure the probe cover is on.
  2. Point the thermometer at the center of the forehead, approximately 1.2 inches (3 cm) away.
  3. Press and release the 'Measure' button. The reading will appear on the display in 1 second.

Ear Measurement:

  1. Remove the probe cover.
  2. Gently insert the probe into the ear canal. For children, gently pull the earlobe back to straighten the ear canal.
  3. Press and release the 'Measure' button. The reading will appear on the display in 1 second.

5.4 Child Mode (0-3 Years Old)

The thermometer features a dedicated 'Child Mode' for infants aged 0-3 years. To activate this mode, press the 'Memory/Baby' button. An icon indicating child mode will appear on the display, ensuring appropriate temperature interpretation for this age group.

5.5 Object and Room Temperature Measurement

This thermometer can also measure the temperature of objects and the surrounding room:

  • Object Temperature: Point the thermometer at the object (e.g., milk bottle) from a short distance and press the 'Measure' button.
  • Room Temperature: Point the thermometer towards an open space in the room and press the 'Measure' button.

5.6 Switching Between °C and °F

To switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F), press the 'Mute/°C/°F' button. The display will change accordingly.

5.7 Mute/Unmute Function

To mute or unmute the thermometer's sound, long press the 'Mute/°C/°F' button. This is useful for taking temperatures without disturbing a sleeping child.

5.8 Memory Function

The thermometer stores up to 35 previous temperature readings. To access the memory, short press the 'Memory/Baby' button when the device is off. Each subsequent short press will cycle through the stored readings.

6. Intelligent Fever Indicator

The Momcozy FC-IR300 features a color-coded backlight display to indicate temperature status:

  • Green: Normal temperature (89.6°F ≤ T ≤ 99.2°F / 32.0°C ≤ T ≤ 37.3°C)
  • Orange: Low fever (99.3°F ≤ T ≤ 100.3°F / 37.4°C ≤ T ≤ 37.9°C)
  • Red: High fever (100.4°F ≤ T ≤ 109.2°F / 38.0°C ≤ T ≤ 42.9°C)

7. Maintenance

Cleaning:

  • Wipe the thermometer body with a soft, dry cloth.
  • For the probe, use an alcohol swab or a cotton swab moistened with alcohol (70% isopropyl) to gently clean the surface. Allow it to air dry completely before use.
  • Do not immerse the thermometer in water or any other liquid.

Storage:

  • Store the thermometer in its included carrying bag when not in use.
  • Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Inaccurate Readings: Ensure the probe is clean and positioned correctly. Check for environmental factors like drafts or direct sunlight. Allow the thermometer to acclimate to room temperature for 30 minutes if moved from a different environment.
  • Display Not Working: Check battery installation and replace batteries if necessary.
  • 'Lo' or 'Hi' Error: Indicates a temperature outside the measurable range. Ensure proper contact or distance for measurement.
  • No Sound: Check if the mute function is activated. Refer to section 5.7 to unmute.
