5. Setup and Installation
The BONTEC monitor arm offers two installation methods: C-clamp and Grommet base. Choose the method best suited for your desk.
5.1 Choose Your Mounting Option

Figure 3: Illustration of the two available installation methods: Desk Clamp (C-clamp) and Grommet Base, along with their respective desk thickness and hole diameter requirements.
5.1.1 C-Clamp Installation
- Attach the C-clamp to the main pole of the monitor arm.
- Position the C-clamp on the edge of your desk, ensuring it is stable and secure.
- Tighten the clamp screw until the mount is firmly attached to the desk. The C-clamp includes silicone sleeves and an EVA pad to protect your desk surface.
5.1.2 Grommet Base Installation
- If your desk has a grommet hole, insert the grommet base components through the hole.
- Secure the grommet base from underneath the desk using the provided hardware.
- Attach the main pole of the monitor arm to the secured grommet base.
5.2 Attaching the Monitor
The VESA plate is detachable for easy monitor attachment.

Figure 4: Step-by-step guide for attaching the VESA plate to your monitor and then securely mounting it onto the monitor arm. Hand screws are used for convenience.
- Remove the VESA plate from the monitor arm by lifting it up.
- Align the VESA plate with the mounting holes on the back of your monitor (75x75mm or 100x100mm).
- Secure the VESA plate to the monitor using the appropriate screws from the hardware kit. Hand screws are provided for easy installation without a screwdriver.
- Carefully slide the monitor with the attached VESA plate onto the monitor arm until it clicks securely into place.
6. Operating Instructions
The BONTEC monitor arm features a gas spring system for smooth and effortless adjustments.
6.1 Adjusting Monitor Position

Figure 5: The monitor arm offers extensive flexibility with ±90° tilt, ±90° swivel, and full 360° rotation for optimal viewing angles.
- Tilt: Gently push or pull the top or bottom of your monitor to achieve the desired vertical angle (±90°).
- Swivel: Rotate the monitor horizontally to adjust the viewing angle left or right (±90°).
- Rotation: Rotate the monitor 360° to switch between landscape and portrait orientations.
- Height Adjustment: The gas spring arm allows you to effortlessly raise or lower your monitor to your preferred ergonomic height, up to a maximum of 25 inches from the tabletop.
- Extension: Extend or retract the arm to adjust the distance of your monitor from your eyes, up to a maximum extension of 22.44 inches.

Figure 6: The monitor arm facilitates easy transition between sitting and standing positions, promoting ergonomic posture and reducing strain during long work sessions.
6.2 Adjusting Gas Spring Tension
The gas spring tension may need adjustment to properly support your monitor's weight. The arm features a robust 750 N·m gas spring.

Figure 7: The monitor arm is equipped with a powerful 750 N·m gas spring, ensuring stable and smooth adjustments for monitors up to 19.8 lbs.
- If the monitor sags or does not stay in position, increase the tension. Use the provided Allen key to turn the adjustment screw (usually located on the arm near the VESA plate or main pole) clockwise.
- If the monitor floats up or is difficult to push down, decrease the tension. Turn the adjustment screw counter-clockwise.
- Adjust gradually and test the arm's movement until the monitor stays in place at any desired height.
6.3 Cable Management
The monitor arm includes integrated cable management clips to keep your workspace tidy.

Figure 8: Utilize the built-in cable management system to route and conceal monitor cables, reducing clutter and maintaining a clean, organized desk.
Route your display and power cables through the clips or channels along the arm to maintain a clean and organized workspace.
7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your monitor arm.
- Cleaning: Wipe the arm with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish.
- Inspection: Periodically check all screws and connections to ensure they are tight and secure. Retighten if necessary.
- Gas Spring: The gas spring is maintenance-free. Do not attempt to lubricate or disassemble it.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your monitor arm, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Monitor Sags or Does Not Stay Up:
- The monitor may be too heavy for the current gas spring tension. Increase the gas spring tension by turning the adjustment screw clockwise.
- Ensure the monitor's weight is within the specified range (6.6 - 19.8 lbs).
- Monitor Floats Up or is Difficult to Push Down:
- The gas spring tension is too high for the monitor's weight. Decrease the gas spring tension by turning the adjustment screw counter-clockwise.
- Arm is Loose or Wobbly:
- Check all mounting screws (C-clamp/grommet base and VESA plate) and tighten them securely.
- Ensure the desk surface is stable and thick enough for the chosen mounting method.
- Monitor Does Not Tilt/Swivel Smoothly:
- Check for any obstructions.
- Ensure all pivot points are free of debris. Do not lubricate.
