Introduction

Setup and Installation

1. Installing the Camera Cage

The SmallRig Cage Kit 4422 is designed for a precise fit with the Sony Alpha 7C II and Alpha 7CR cameras. Follow these steps for proper installation:

1. Prepare the Camera: Before installing the cage, ensure the camera is powered off. It is recommended to remove the strap ring located on the camera's right side to ensure a secure and flush fit of the cage.
2. Attach the Cage: Align the camera with the cage. The cage locks the camera via two main points:
   • Secure the camera to the cage using the 1/4"-20 screw located on the bottom of the cage. Tighten this screw firmly.
   • Further secure the camera with the M2.5 screw on the side of the cage. This dual-point locking mechanism prevents twisting and ensures stability.

2. Attaching the HDMI Cable Clamp

The included HDMI cable clamp helps protect the camera's HDMI port and ensures stable signal transmission during use.

1. Insert your HDMI cable into the camera's HDMI port.
2. Position the cable clamp around the HDMI cable and align it with the designated mounting point on the cage.
3. Tighten the thumb screw on the cable clamp to secure it in place. This allows for quick assembly and disassembly.

Note:

• If you need to use the camera's headphone jack, you may need to remove the HDMI Cable Clamp first.

Operating the Cage Kit

1. Enhanced Handgrip Feeling

The cage features an integrated hinge arm design at the battery compartment, which not only seamlessly fits the camera's curve but also significantly improves the overall handgrip. This ergonomic design provides a more comfortable and secure hold, especially beneficial for extended shooting sessions.

2. Multiple Mounting Points

The SmallRig Cage 4422 offers a variety of mounting points for attaching accessories, expanding your camera's versatility:

• 1/4''-20 & 3/8''-16 Threaded Holes: Located throughout the cage, these standard mounting points are compatible with various accessories such as top handles (e.g., SmallRig 3765), side handles (e.g., SmallRig 4346), and magic arms.
• 3/8"-16 Locating Hole for ARRI: This specific hole is designed for ARRI-standard accessories, such as monitor mounts (e.g., SmallRig 2903B), providing anti-twist security.
• Cold Shoe Mounts: Integrated cold shoe mounts allow for direct attachment of accessories like LED lights (e.g., SmallRig 4055) or microphones.
• NATO Rail: A NATO rail is included for quick attachment and detachment of NATO-compatible accessories, such as top handles (e.g., SmallRig 4345).
• Bottom QD Socket: A Quick Detach (QD) socket is provided on the bottom for easily attaching shoulder straps.
• M4 Threaded Holes (Bottom Front): These holes are compatible with the Horizontal-to-Vertical Mount Plate 4424, enabling quick switching between horizontal and vertical shooting orientations.

3. Quick Release Plate for Arca-Swiss

The cage features a built-in quick release plate compatible with Arca-type systems. This allows for rapid transitions between handheld shooting, tripod mounting, and stabilizer setups.

• Compatibility: The Arca-type plate is compatible with tripods and gimbals that support the Arca-Swiss standard, including DJI RS 2 / RSC 2 / RS 3 / RS 3 Pro stabilizers and DJI RS 2 / RSC 2 gimbals quick-release plates (e.g., SmallRig Quick Release Plate for Arca-Type 3154).

Maintenance
