Setup
- Install the Memory Card: Insert a compatible microSD card (Class 10 or higher, up to 256GB recommended) into the designated slot until it clicks. Ensure the device is powered off before inserting or removing the card.
- Mount the Dash Cam:
- Clean the windshield area where you intend to mount the dash cam.
- Attach the suction cup mount to the windshield, ensuring a secure grip.
- Slide the MiVue 803 onto the mount until it locks into place.
- Adjust the camera angle to ensure a clear view of the road ahead, avoiding obstruction by wipers or the rearview mirror.
- Connect to Power:
- Connect the charging cable to the dash cam's power port.
- Plug the other end of the charging cable into your vehicle's 12V power outlet (cigarette lighter socket).
- Route the cable neatly along the windshield and dashboard to avoid obstructing your view or interfering with driving controls.
- Initial Power On: The dash cam will typically power on automatically when the vehicle's ignition is turned on. Follow any on-screen prompts for initial setup, such as language selection and time/date settings.
Operating Instructions
Basic Recording
Once powered on, the MiVue 803 will automatically begin continuous recording. The recording indicator (usually a flashing LED or on-screen icon) will confirm active recording.
- Loop Recording: The dash cam records video in segments (e.g., 1, 3, or 5 minutes). When the memory card is full, the oldest unprotected files are overwritten.
- Emergency Recording: In the event of a sudden impact or sharp braking, the built-in G-sensor will automatically trigger an emergency recording. These files are protected from being overwritten by loop recording. You can also manually trigger an emergency recording by pressing the designated button (refer to your quick guide for button layout).

Smart Parking Mode
The Smart Parking Mode activates when your vehicle is parked and the engine is off. It uses the G-sensor to detect impacts or motion, recording events to protect your vehicle. Note: This feature requires a continuous power supply to the dash cam, typically achieved with a hardwire kit (sold separately) that connects directly to your car's fuse box.

GPS and Speedcam Alerts
The integrated GPS module tracks your vehicle's location and speed. It also provides alerts for speed cameras, helping you maintain awareness of speed limits.
Maintenance
- Clean the Lens: Regularly wipe the camera lens with a soft, lint-free cloth to ensure clear recordings. Avoid abrasive materials.
- Memory Card Management: Format the microSD card periodically (e.g., once a month) through the dash cam's settings to maintain optimal performance and prevent data corruption. Back up any important files before formatting.
- Firmware Updates: Check for and install firmware updates via the MiVue app or Mio's official website to ensure your dash cam has the latest features and bug fixes.
- Temperature: Avoid exposing the dash cam to extreme temperatures for extended periods. If the vehicle is parked in direct sunlight, consider removing the dash cam or using a sunshade.
