  • Main Rotary Encoders: The two large rotary encoders (left and right) are used for general navigation, parameter adjustment, and value selection. Pressing them often confirms selections.
  • Footswitches: The ten footswitches can be assigned to activate/deactivate effects, change presets, or control specific parameters. Each footswitch has a small display above it indicating its current function or preset name.

Creating and Editing Presets

The Tone Master Pro allows you to build complex signal chains with various amps, cabs, and effects. The graphical interface on the touchscreen simplifies this process.

  2. Select the desired amplifier, cabinet, or effect from the available categories.
  3. Adjust parameters using the touchscreen controls and the main rotary encoders.
  4. Rearrange blocks in the signal chain by dragging them on the screen.
  5. To save your custom tone, tap the "Save" option on the screen and follow the prompts to name and store your preset.

Footswitch Modes

The footswitches can operate in different modes (e.g., Preset mode, Stompbox mode) allowing for flexible control during live performances. Refer to the on-screen menus for configuring footswitch assignments.

Maintenance

Cleaning

To clean the Tone Master Pro, use a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth with mild soap can be used, ensuring no liquid enters the unit. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.

Software Updates

Fender periodically releases firmware updates to improve performance, add features, or fix bugs. Connect your Tone Master Pro to a computer via USB and use the official Fender software to check for and install updates. Always back up your presets before performing a firmware update.

Storage

When not in use, store the Tone Master Pro in a dry, temperature-controlled environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Using a protective case is recommended for transport.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Tone Master Pro, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • No Power: Ensure the power cable is securely connected to both the unit and the power outlet. Verify the power switch is in the 'ON' position. Test the outlet with another device.
  • No Sound: Check all audio cable connections (guitar, outputs, FX loops). Ensure the master volume is turned up. Verify that the selected preset has active amplifier and cabinet blocks, and that no effects are muting the signal.
  • Distorted Sound: Check input levels to prevent clipping. Adjust gain stages within your preset. Ensure your amplifier or PA system is not overdriven.
  • Screen Unresponsive: Try restarting the unit. If the issue persists, contact Fender support.
  • Unexpected Behavior: Perform a factory reset (refer to the on-screen menu or Fender's official support resources for instructions). This will erase all user presets, so back them up first.
