2. Safety Information

Your KASK Valegro helmet is designed to provide protection during cycling activities. Adherence to safety guidelines is crucial for your well-being.

2.1. Rotational Impact WG11 Approval

The Valegro helmet is Rotational Impact WG11 approved. This certification indicates that the helmet's internal protection system exceeds international safety standards against rotational impacts, offering an enhanced layer of safety.

2.2. General Safety Guidelines

  • Always wear your helmet correctly fitted and securely fastened.
  • Replace your helmet after any significant impact, even if visible damage is not apparent. Internal structures may be compromised.
  • Do not modify the helmet in any way, as this can compromise its protective capabilities.
  • Ensure high visibility in low light conditions by using appropriate lighting and reflective gear.

3. Setup and Fitting

Proper helmet fit is essential for both comfort and safety. Follow these steps to ensure your Valegro helmet is correctly adjusted.

3.1. Sizing

Refer to the size guide below to select the appropriate helmet size based on your head circumference.

Medium20.5 - 22.8
Large23.2 - 24.4

3.2. Octo Fit Adjustment System

The Valegro features an 'Octo' rubberized micro dial adjuster for precise and comfortable fitting. This system allows for easy adjustments even during a ride.

  1. Placement: Position the helmet squarely on your head, ensuring it covers your forehead without obstructing your vision.
  2. Tighten the Dial: Use the rear micro dial adjuster to gently tighten the retention system until the helmet feels snug and secure, without being uncomfortably tight. The helmet supports oscillate freely through 180° for optimal positioning.
  3. Strap Adjustment: Adjust the side straps so they form a 'V' shape just below your ears. The chin strap should be tightened so that it is snug against your throat, allowing only one or two fingers to fit between the strap and your chin. The eco-leather chin strap is designed for comfort.
  4. Check Fit: With the straps fastened, shake your head gently. The helmet should not shift significantly. If it does, re-adjust the dial and straps.

4. Operating the Helmet

The KASK Valegro helmet is designed for cycling. Its primary function is head protection. Ensure the helmet is properly fitted and secured before every ride.

4.1. Intended Use

This helmet is suitable for various cycling disciplines, including gravel biking, cyclocross, and XC marathons, where maximum ventilation and a lightweight design are beneficial.

4.2. Ventilation

The 37 ventilation holes are strategically placed to maximize airflow and provide thermal comfort. The internal padding is designed to speed up perspiration evaporation, reducing humidity and regulating temperature.

5. Maintenance and Care

Proper maintenance will extend the life of your KASK Valegro helmet and ensure its continued effectiveness.

  • Cleaning: Clean the helmet exterior with a soft cloth, mild soap, and water. Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive materials, as these can damage the helmet's shell or internal components.
  • Padding: The internal padding is breathable and quick-drying. It can be removed and hand-washed with mild soap and water, then air-dried.
  • Storage: Store the helmet in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Do not store it near heat sources or in a car on a hot day, as high temperatures can damage the helmet's materials.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect your helmet for any signs of damage, such as cracks in the shell, frayed straps, or compressed foam. If any damage is found, replace the helmet immediately.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your KASK Valegro helmet, consider the following common solutions:

  • Helmet feels loose: Re-adjust the Octo Fit micro dial and ensure the chin strap is snug. Refer to Section 3.2 for detailed fitting instructions.
  • Discomfort: Check if the padding is correctly seated. Ensure the helmet is not tilted too far forward or backward. Adjust the retention system for a comfortable, yet secure, fit.
  • Excessive sweating: While the helmet offers advanced ventilation, individual perspiration rates vary. Ensure the helmet is clean and the padding is not saturated. Consider wearing a thin, moisture-wicking cycling cap underneath in very hot conditions.
  • Visible damage: Any visible cracks, dents, or significant wear to the shell or foam indicate that the helmet's protective integrity may be compromised. Replace the helmet immediately.
