4. Setup

4.1 Unpacking

1. Remove all packaging materials from inside and outside the microwave oven.
2. Check the oven for any damage, such as a misaligned or bent door, damaged door seals and sealing surface, broken or loose door hinges and latches, or dents inside the cavity or on the door. If there is any damage, do not operate the oven and contact Kenmore customer service.

4.2 Placement

• Place the microwave oven on a flat, stable surface that can support its weight and the heaviest food likely to be cooked in the oven.
• Ensure adequate ventilation. Leave a minimum of 3 inches (7.5 cm) of space on the top, sides, and back of the oven for proper airflow.
• Do not block air vents.
• Keep the microwave away from heat sources and water.

4.3 Power Connection

• Plug the power cord into a standard 120V, 60Hz, AC only electrical outlet. Ensure the outlet is properly grounded.
• Do not use extension cords or adapters.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Setting the Clock

1. Press the "Clock" button once.
2. Use the number pad to enter the current time (e.g., 1-2-3-0 for 12:30).
3. Press "Clock" again to confirm.

5.2 Basic Cooking (Time Cook)

1. Place food in the microwave-safe dish and put it on the turntable. Close the door.
2. Press the "Time Cook" button.
3. Use the number pad to enter the desired cooking time (e.g., 1-0-0 for 1 minute).
4. To adjust power level (optional): Press "Power Level" and then use the number pad (1-10) for 10%-100% power. (e.g., 5 for 50% power).

5.3 Express Cook

For quick cooking, simply press the number buttons 1 through 6 for 1 to 6 minutes of cooking at 100% power.

• Press "1" for 1 minute.
• Press "2" for 2 minutes, and so on.

5.4 Add 30 Sec.

This feature allows you to quickly start the microwave for 30 seconds at 100% power, or add 30 seconds to an ongoing cooking cycle.

• Press "Add 30 Sec." to start cooking for 30 seconds.
• During cooking, press "Add 30 Sec." to extend the cooking time by 30-second increments.

5.5 Preset Cooking Menus

5.6 Defrosting

Your microwave offers two defrosting methods: Time Defrost and Weight Defrost.

Time Defrost

1. Press the "Time Defrost" button.
2. Enter the desired defrosting time using the number pad.
3. Press "Start".

Weight Defrost

1. Press the "Weight Defrost" button.
2. Enter the weight of the food in ounces using the number pad.
3. Press "Start". The oven will calculate the defrosting time automatically.

To Activate:

The Kitchen Timer functions independently of the microwave cooking functions.
