1. Safety Instructions
Read and understand all safety warnings and instructions before operating this electric chainsaw sharpener. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.
General Safety
- Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
- Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
- Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
Electrical Safety
- Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way.
- Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
- Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
Personal Safety
- Always wear eye protection. Use safety glasses, goggles, or a face shield.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and hearing protection.
- Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
- Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair and clothing away from moving parts.

4. Setup
4.1 Mounting the Sharpener
For stable and safe operation, the sharpener should be securely mounted to a workbench or a sturdy surface. The unit features pre-drilled holes in its base for permanent installation using bolts (included).
- Position the sharpener on your workbench at a comfortable working height.
- Mark the locations for the mounting bolts through the holes in the sharpener's base.
- Drill appropriate pilot holes into the workbench.
- Secure the sharpener using the provided bolts, ensuring it is firmly attached and does not wobble.
Alternatively, for temporary use, a C-clamp can be used to secure the sharpener to a sturdy surface, as demonstrated in some usage scenarios. Ensure the clamp provides sufficient stability.

- Remove the two screws holding the grinding wheel cover, then set the cover aside.
- Unscrew the grinder lock cap that holds the grinding wheel in place.
- Install the new wheel on the grinding wheel base, making sure it fits properly. Secure the lock cap and replace the cover.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Chain Preparation
- Ensure the chainsaw chain is clean and free from debris.
- Adjust the chain tension on your chainsaw to be firm but still allow the chain to move freely.
- Disconnect the chainsaw from its power source before handling the chain.
5.2 Sharpening Process
The sharpener is designed to provide precise and consistent sharpening. Follow these steps for optimal results:
- Set Sharpening Angle: Use the quick measurement scale on the sharpener's base to set the desired sharpening angle. A common angle is 30 degrees, but refer to your chainsaw chain manufacturer's recommendations.
- Adjust Depth Stop: The sharpener features an adjustable depth stop to control how deep the grinding wheel cuts into the chain tooth. Adjust this to prevent over-grinding and ensure consistent tooth height.
- Position the Chain: Place the chainsaw chain into the clamping mechanism of the sharpener. Ensure one tooth is securely positioned against the grinding wheel.
- Engage Sharpener: Turn on the sharpener using the power switch. The integrated LED light will illuminate the work area.
- Sharpen Tooth: Gently lower the grinding wheel onto the chain tooth. Apply light, consistent pressure. Sparks will indicate material removal. Sharpen each tooth for a short duration (e.g., 1-2 seconds).
- Advance Chain: After sharpening one tooth, lift the grinding wheel, release the chain clamp, and advance the chain to the next tooth. Repeat the sharpening process.
- Sharpen Alternating Teeth: Chainsaw chains have teeth angled in alternating directions. Sharpen all teeth facing one direction first, then adjust the sharpener's angle (or rotate the chain) and sharpen all teeth facing the other direction.
