Maintenance
Cleaning
- Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior surfaces of the headset.
- For earcups, gently wipe with a slightly damp cloth and allow to air dry completely before use. Avoid excessive moisture.
- Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents, as these may damage the headset's finish or components.
Storage
Store the headset in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. When not in use, retract the microphone to protect it from damage.
Troubleshooting
No Sound or Low Volume
- Ensure the headset is powered on and properly connected (either wirelessly via dongle or wired via 3.5mm cable).
- Check the volume roller on the headset and ensure it is turned up.
- Verify that the Alienware AW720H is selected as the default audio output device in your computer's or console's sound settings.
- If using wireless, ensure the dongle is securely plugged in and its indicator light is solid blue.
- Test the headset with another device to rule out device-specific issues.
Microphone Not Working
- Ensure the microphone is extended and not muted (check if the mic tip is red).
- Verify that the Alienware AW720H is selected as the default audio input device in your computer's or console's sound settings.
- For wireless connection, ensure the AI noise-canceling feature is not interfering with specific applications; try disabling it temporarily if issues persist.
- Note that AI noise-canceling and other advanced mic features are primarily available via the 2.4GHz wireless dongle connection. When using the 3.5mm wired connection, microphone functionality may be limited or require specific device support.
Connectivity Issues (Wireless)
- Ensure the headset is within range of the 2.4GHz wireless dongle (typically up to 10 meters).
- Avoid interference from other wireless devices (e.g., Wi-Fi routers, cordless phones) by moving them further away.
- Try re-pairing the headset with the dongle by following the instructions in the full Alienware Command Center software manual.
- Important Note for Console Users: The 2.4GHz wireless mode and its advanced features (Dolby Atmos, AI noise-canceling mic, game/chat dial) are primarily designed for PC use. For PlayStation or Xbox, you will typically need to use the 3.5mm wired connection, and some features may not be available or function differently.
