3. Safety Information
Always prioritize safety when working on a vehicle. Failure to follow these safety guidelines may result in injury or damage to property.
- Ensure the vehicle is securely supported on jack stands or a lift. Never rely solely on a jack.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and gloves.
- Allow the exhaust system to cool completely before beginning work to avoid burns.
- Work in a well-ventilated area.
- Disconnect the vehicle's battery before starting any electrical work, though not typically required for exhaust installation.
- Keep a fire extinguisher nearby.
4. Installation Guide
This section outlines the general steps for installing the MAC Dual Exhaust System. Professional installation is recommended.
4.1. Preparation
- Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
- Raise the vehicle to a comfortable working height and secure it with jack stands.
- Apply penetrating oil to all exhaust fasteners (bolts, clamps) and rubber hangers to ease removal.
4.2. Removal of Existing Exhaust System
- Carefully unbolt or cut the existing exhaust system components, starting from the rear.
- Detach the exhaust from all rubber hangers.
- Remove the old exhaust system from under the vehicle. Note the routing and orientation of components for reference.
4.3. Installation of New MAC Dual Exhaust System
Refer to the exploded diagram below for component identification and assembly order.

Image 1: Exploded view diagram illustrating the individual components and their general assembly order for the MAC Dual Exhaust System. This image shows the front extension pipe, middle muffler, rear mufflers, extension pipes, clamps, and hangers.
- Begin by installing the Front Extension Pipe (Part# 526230-1), connecting it to the existing catalytic converter or front pipe. Do not fully tighten fasteners yet.
- Attach the Middle Muffler (Part# 526230-2) to the front extension pipe. Secure it with the provided clamps and rubber hangers.
- Connect the Rear Extension Y Pipe (Part# 94100-2) to the middle muffler, followed by the Rear Extension Pipe (Part# 94100-1).
- Install the Right Rear Muffler Assembly (Part# 30029) and the Left Rear Muffler Assembly (Part# 30028) to the respective rear extension pipes. Ensure the plain steel tips are correctly oriented.
- Utilize the provided Connector Clamps (Part# 8640, 8641, 2.25C, 2C) to secure all pipe connections.
- Mount all components using the Rubber Support Hangers (Part# 8095), ensuring the system hangs freely without contacting the vehicle chassis or other components.
- Once all components are in place and properly aligned, gradually tighten all clamps and fasteners, working from front to rear. Ensure all connections are secure to prevent leaks.
- Install the Stainless Steel Chrome OE Style Tips (Part# ST1260S) onto the muffler outlets, securing them as per their design.
5. Post-Installation Checks
After installation, perform the following checks to ensure proper function and safety:
- Visual Inspection: Carefully inspect the entire exhaust system for proper alignment, clearance from the chassis, suspension components, and fuel lines. Ensure no part is touching or rubbing.
- Leak Check: Start the engine and listen for any exhaust leaks. A common method is to feel for escaping gases around connections or use soapy water to identify bubbles.
- Noise Check: Listen for any unusual rattles, vibrations, or excessive noise. Adjust hangers or clamps as needed.
- Final Tightening: After a short drive and allowing the system to cool, re-check and re-tighten all clamps and fasteners, as heat cycles can sometimes cause minor loosening.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance will extend the life and performance of your MAC Dual Exhaust System.
- Periodic Inspection: Annually or every 10,000 miles, inspect the entire exhaust system for signs of rust, corrosion, cracks, or damage. Check all hangers for wear and ensure clamps are tight.
- Cleaning: The stainless steel tips can be cleaned with a non-abrasive automotive metal polish to maintain their appearance.
- Addressing Issues: Any signs of leaks, excessive noise, or loose components should be addressed promptly to prevent further damage.
7. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues that may arise after installation.
- Exhaust Leak: If you detect an exhaust leak, re-check all clamp connections. Ensure they are properly seated and tightened. Gaskets, if used, should be inspected for damage.
- Rattling Noise: A rattling noise often indicates that a part of the exhaust system is contacting the vehicle chassis or another component. Inspect clearances and adjust hangers or pipe positions as necessary. Ensure all clamps are tight.
- Improper Fit/Alignment: If the system does not align correctly, loosen all clamps and hangers, adjust the components for optimal fit, and then re-tighten. Sometimes, rotating a pipe slightly can resolve alignment issues.
- Excessive Vibration: Ensure all rubber hangers are correctly installed and not damaged. Excessive vibration can also be a sign of loose connections or contact with the vehicle body.
