4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

1. Ensure the radio is powered off.
2. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the radio.
3. Align the battery with the grooves and gently push it into place until it clicks securely.

4.2 Antenna Attachment

1. Screw the high-gain antenna clockwise onto the antenna connector at the top of the radio until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.

5.1 Power On/Off and Volume Control

• To power on the radio, rotate the Power/Volume knob clockwise. You will hear a click and the display will light up.
• Continue rotating the knob clockwise to increase the volume; rotate counter-clockwise to decrease it.
• To power off, rotate the knob counter-clockwise until you hear a click.

5.2 Channel Selection and Frequency Mode

• Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys on the keypad to navigate through the 999 available channels.
• Press the 'MENU' button to access the main menu. From here, you can switch between Channel Mode and Frequency Mode.
• In Frequency Mode, you can directly input desired frequencies using the numeric keypad.

5.3 Transmitting and Receiving

• To transmit, press and hold the Push-To-Talk (PTT) button on the side of the radio. Speak clearly into the microphone.
• Release the PTT button to stop transmitting and return to receive mode.
