Setup

Battery Installation

Vehicle Battery: The HAIBOXING 16890SA uses a 7.4V (2S) 1200mAh Li-Po battery. One battery is typically pre-installed. Ensure it is securely connected.

Remote Control Batteries: The remote control requires AA batteries (not included). Open the battery compartment on the remote and insert the batteries according to the polarity indicators.

Charging Batteries

Use the provided USB charging cables. Connect the cables to a compatible USB power adapter (rated at 5V, 2A or lower, not included). Connect the other end to the Li-Po batteries. The two included USB cables allow for simultaneous charging of both batteries.

Caution:

  • Always supervise batteries during charging.
  • Do not charge damaged or swollen batteries.
  • Charge batteries on a non-flammable surface away from combustible materials.

Throttle Range Calibration (ESC Setup)

To ensure the ESC (Electronic Speed Controller) matches the throttle range of your transmitter, calibration is necessary. This procedure should be performed when using a new ESC, a new transmitter, or after adjusting EPA/ATV parameters.

  1. Transmitter Preparation: Switch off the ESC. Turn on the transmitter. Set the throttle channel direction to "forward" and "reverse". Disable the "ABS" brake function on your transmitter.
  2. Enter Calibration Mode: Hold the "SET" button on the ESC. While holding, switch on the ESC. Release the "SET" key immediately once the red LED begins to flash.
  3. Set Three Points: Follow the visual cues from the ESC's LED indicators to set the three throttle points:
    • Neutral Point: With the throttle trigger at neutral, press the "SET" button. The green LED will flash once.
    • End Point of Forward Direction: Pull the throttle trigger to its maximum forward position, then press the "SET" button. The green LED will flash twice.
    • End Point of Backward Direction: Push the throttle trigger to its maximum backward position, then press the "SET" button. The green LED will flash three times.
  4. Completion: Once the calibration process is finished, the motor will start after 3 seconds.

Note:

If you do not release the "SET" key after the red LED begins to flash, the ESC will enter program mode. In such a case, switch off the ESC and re-calibrate the throttle range from step A to D.

Operating Instructions

Basic Controls

  • Throttle Trigger: Pull the trigger towards you to accelerate forward. Push the trigger away from you to brake, and push again for reverse.
  • Steering Wheel: Turn the steering wheel left or right to control the vehicle's direction.

Driving Tips

  • Start with gentle throttle inputs to familiarize yourself with the vehicle's response.
  • Practice steering in open areas before attempting more complex maneuvers.
  • The vehicle is designed for all terrains. Adjust your driving style based on the surface (e.g., loose dirt, grass, sand).

Speed Performance

With the included 7.4V (2S) Li-Po batteries, the truck can reach speeds over 28 mph (45 km/h). For increased performance, equipping the vehicle with a 3S battery (not included) can enable speeds surpassing 40 mph (64 km/h).

Maintenance

Cleaning

  • After each use, especially in dirty or wet conditions, clean the vehicle to remove dirt, dust, and debris.
  • Use a soft brush or compressed air to clean hard-to-reach areas.
  • Wipe down the body and chassis with a damp cloth. Ensure all electronic components are dry before storage or next use.

Inspecting Components

  • Regularly check for loose screws, damaged parts, or worn tires.
  • Inspect the suspension components, driveshafts, and gears for any signs of wear or damage.
  • Ensure battery connectors are clean and free from corrosion.

Storage

  • Store the vehicle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Remove batteries from both the vehicle and the remote control before long-term storage.
  • Store Li-Po batteries at a storage voltage (typically around 3.8V per cell) to maintain their health.
