5. Installation (Setup)

5.1 Pre-Installation Checks

  • Ensure the wall is suitable to bear the weight of the radiator (19 kg dry weight, plus water).
  • Confirm that the central heating system is drained and isolated.
  • Unpack all components and check for any damage.

5.2 Mounting the Radiator

  1. Marking: Use the provided mounting brackets to mark the drilling points on the wall. Ensure the marks are level and correspond to the radiator's dimensions.
  2. Drilling: Drill holes at the marked points using an appropriate drill bit for your wall type. Insert the wall plugs.
  3. Attaching Brackets: Securely fasten the mounting brackets to the wall using the long screws.
  4. Hanging the Radiator: Carefully lift the radiator and hang it onto the installed brackets. Ensure it is stable and level.

5.3 Connecting to the Heating System

The EMKE radiator offers flexible connection options:

  • Central Connection: This is the primary connection method, allowing for the use of either a split valve or a combined valve.
  • End Connection (Left or Right): The radiator can also be connected from either the left or right end. For this method, a split valve must be used.

Connect the radiator to your hot water central heating system using G1/2" fittings. Ensure all connections are tightened and sealed to prevent leaks. Valves are not included and must be purchased separately.

6. Operation

Once installed and connected to your hot water central heating system, the EMKE radiator operates as part of your home's heating infrastructure. To activate the radiator, ensure your central heating system is turned on and the radiator valves are open.

  • Heating: The radiator will begin to heat up as hot water circulates through its double-layer oval tubes.
  • Temperature Control: Adjust the room temperature using your central heating thermostat and the individual radiator valves (if installed) to achieve your desired comfort level.
  • Bleeding: Periodically bleed the radiator to release any trapped air, which can reduce heating efficiency. Use a radiator key to open the bleed valve until water starts to emerge, then close it.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient performance of your EMKE radiator.

  • Cleaning: Clean the radiator regularly with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the anthracite finish.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect the radiator for any signs of corrosion, leaks, or damage. Address any issues promptly.
  • System Checks: Ensure your central heating system is maintained according to its manufacturer's recommendations.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your EMKE radiator, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Radiator Not Heating:
    • Check if the central heating system is operational.
    • Ensure radiator valves are fully open.
    • Bleed the radiator to remove trapped air.
    • Verify that the system pressure is adequate.
  • Uneven Heating:
    • Bleed the radiator; trapped air often causes cold spots.
    • Ensure proper water flow through the system.
  • Leaks:
    • Immediately turn off the central heating system and isolate the radiator if possible.
    • Tighten connections at the valves and pipework.
    • If a leak persists or originates from the radiator body, contact a qualified plumber.

For persistent issues, it is recommended to consult a qualified heating engineer.
