Hitron HTEM5 Multi-Gigabit MoCA Adapters

The HTEM5 MoCA Adapters utilize your home's existing coaxial cabling to create a high-speed Ethernet backbone. This allows you to extend your network's reach and improve the performance of your Mesh WiFi system by providing a wired backhaul connection between your WiFi pods, eliminating dead zones and buffering.

Setup Guide

1. CODA56 Multi-Gigabit Modem Setup

  1. Connect Coaxial Cable: Connect one end of a coaxial cable to the Cable port on the CODA56 modem and the other end to a wall coaxial outlet. Ensure the connection is secure.
  2. Connect Ethernet Cable: Connect one end of the provided Ethernet cable to the 2.5G Ethernet port on the CODA56 modem. Connect the other end to the WAN/Internet port of your WiFi router or directly to your computer's Ethernet port.
  3. Connect Power Adapter: Plug the power adapter into the Power port on the CODA56 modem and then into an electrical outlet.
  4. Power On: The modem will automatically power on. Wait for the LED indicators (Power, Upstream, Downstream, Internet) to stabilize. The Internet LED should turn solid green, indicating a successful connection.
  5. Activate Service: Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) to activate the CODA56 modem. You will need to provide them with the modem's MAC address, usually found on a sticker on the bottom or back of the device.

Note: The CODA56 modem is certified to work with major cable ISPs including Comcast Xfinity, Charter Spectrum, Cox Gigablast, Cable One Sparklight, Zito Media, Astound, Grande, RCN, and Wave. It is not compatible with AT&T, Verizon, CenturyLink, DSL Providers, DISH, DirecTV, or any bundled voice service.

2. HTEM5 Multi-Gigabit MoCA Adapters Setup

These adapters are designed to enhance your Mesh WiFi system by providing a wired backhaul connection.

  1. First MoCA Adapter (Near Router/Modem):
    • Connect one end of a coaxial cable to a wall coaxial outlet and the other end to the "Coax In" port on the first HTEM5 adapter.
    • Connect an Ethernet cable from the Ethernet port on the HTEM5 adapter to an available LAN port on your WiFi router or the CODA56 modem.
    • Plug in the power adapter to the HTEM5 and an electrical outlet.
  2. Second MoCA Adapter (Near Mesh WiFi Pod):
    • Locate a coaxial outlet near your Mesh WiFi pod. Connect one end of a coaxial cable to this outlet and the other end to the "Coax In" port on the second HTEM5 adapter.
    • Connect an Ethernet cable from the Ethernet port on this HTEM5 adapter to the Ethernet backhaul port on your Mesh WiFi pod.
    • Plug in the power adapter to the HTEM5 and an electrical outlet.
  3. Verify Connection: The MoCA LED indicator on both HTEM5 adapters should turn solid green, indicating a successful MoCA network connection.

  • No Internet Connection (CODA56):

    • Verify that all CODA56 LEDs are solid green. If not, power cycle the modem by unplugging it for 30 seconds and plugging it back in.
    • Contact your ISP to confirm service activation and check for network outages in your area.
  • Slow Internet Speeds:
    • Ensure your internet plan supports the speeds you expect.
    • Check for interference from other devices.
    • If using WiFi, ensure your router is optimally placed and consider using the HTEM5 adapters for wired backhaul to your mesh system.
  • HTEM5 MoCA Adapters Not Connecting:
    • Ensure both HTEM5 adapters are powered on and their MoCA LEDs are solid green.

    • Ensure the coaxial outlets are active and part of the same coaxial network within your home.
    • Check for MoCA filters at your service entrance if you experience issues, as they might block the signal.
  • Device Not Recognized:
    • Ensure the Ethernet cable is securely connected to both the Hitron device and the connected device (router, PC, mesh pod).
    • Try a different Ethernet cable.
    • Restart the connected device.
