3.3 Mounting the Microinverter
- Attach the microinverter to the desired mounting surface using the provided mounting hardware. Ensure it is securely fastened.
- Maintain adequate clearance around the unit for proper heat dissipation.
3.4 Electrical Connections
WARNING: Ensure all power sources are disconnected before making electrical connections.
- DC Connection (Solar Panels):
- Connect the DC cables from each solar module to the corresponding input ports on the microinverter. The HMS-1800-4T has four DC inputs.
- Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -).
- Verify that the solar panel voltage and current are within the microinverter's specifications (Max. Input Voltage: 65V DC, MPPT Voltage Range: 16-60V DC, Max. Input Current: 4 x 15A DC).
- AC Connection (Grid):
- Connect the AC output cable from the microinverter to your home's electrical grid or a dedicated balcony power plant circuit.
- Ensure the AC connection is properly grounded.
- The microinverter's nominal output voltage is 230/240V AC.

4. Operation
4.1 Starting the System
- Once all electrical connections are secure, turn on the AC circuit breaker connected to the microinverter.
- Next, ensure the solar panels are exposed to sufficient sunlight.
- The microinverter will automatically start operating when the DC input voltage reaches the start-up voltage (22V DC) and sufficient power is available from the solar panels.
- Allow a few minutes for the microinverter to initialize and begin power conversion.
4.2 Monitoring
The Hoymiles HMS-1800-4T Microinverter can be monitored using the Hoymiles S-Miles Cloud monitoring system. This requires a Hoymiles Gateway DTU (Data Transfer Unit), which is sold separately.
- Connect the DTU to your home network and position it within range of the microinverter's Sub-1G communication signal.
- Register your system on the S-Miles Cloud platform.
- Through the S-Miles Cloud, you can monitor real-time power production, historical data, and system status for each individual module.
5. Maintenance
The Hoymiles HMS-1800-4T Microinverter is designed for minimal maintenance. However, regular checks can ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Visual Inspection (Quarterly):
- Check for any visible damage to the microinverter casing, cables, or connectors.
- Ensure all connections are secure and free from corrosion.
- Verify that the mounting is still secure.
- Cleaning (Annually or as needed):
- Gently clean the exterior of the microinverter with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust or debris.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Ensure the cooling fins are clear of obstructions.
- Performance Monitoring: Regularly check the system's performance via the S-Miles Cloud to identify any drops in power production that might indicate an issue.
WARNING: Do not attempt to open or repair the microinverter. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
