2. Safety Information

• Battery Safety: Use only Doro approved batteries and chargers. Do not disassemble, crush, or puncture the battery. Do not expose the battery to high temperatures or direct sunlight.
• Hearing Protection: Avoid prolonged exposure to high volume levels when using headphones or the loudspeaker.
• Driving Safety: Always prioritize driving and obey all local laws and regulations regarding mobile phone use while driving.

5. Setup

5.1. Installing the Battery

1. Carefully remove the back cover of the phone.
2. Align the battery contacts with the terminals inside the battery compartment.
3. Gently press the battery into place until it clicks.
4. Replace the back cover, ensuring it is securely fastened.

5.2. Inserting the SIM Card (Micro SIM - 3FF)

1. With the back cover removed and battery out, locate the SIM card slot.
2. Insert your Micro SIM card (3FF) into the designated slot with the gold contacts facing down and the cut corner aligned as shown in the diagram (refer to phone's internal markings).
3. Push the SIM card gently until it locks into place.

5.3. Inserting a Micro SD Card (Optional)

A Micro SD card can be used to expand storage for photos, videos, and other files.

1. Locate the Micro SD card slot, usually next to the SIM card slot.
2. Insert the Micro SD card with the gold contacts facing down until it clicks into place.

5.4. Charging the Battery

Before first use, fully charge the phone's battery.

1. Connect the USB Type-C cable to the charging port on the phone (Figure 4.5).
2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to a compatible USB power adapter (not included) or a computer's USB port.
3. The charging indicator on the phone will illuminate. Once fully charged, the indicator may change color or turn off.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Power On/Off

• To Power On: Open the flip and press and hold the red End Call/Power button until the Doro logo appears.
• To Power Off: Press and hold the red End Call/Power button until the power off options appear on the screen. Select "Power off" and confirm.

6.2. Making and Receiving Calls

• To Make a Call:
  1. Enter the phone number using the keypad.
  2. Press the green Call button to dial.
• To Answer a Call: When the phone rings, press the green Call button.
• To End a Call: Press the red End Call button.

6.3. Sending and Receiving SMS Messages

• To Send an SMS:
  1. From the main menu, navigate to "Messages".
  2. Select "New Message".
  3. Enter the recipient's number or select from contacts.
  4. Type your message using the keypad.
  5. Press "Send".
• To Read an SMS: When a new message arrives, an envelope icon will appear on the screen. Navigate to "Messages" to open and read.

6.4. Contacts

Store frequently called numbers in your phone's contact list.

• Adding a Contact: From the main menu, select "Contacts" > "Add New Contact". Enter the name and phone number, then save.
• Calling from Contacts: From the main menu, select "Contacts", scroll to the desired contact, and press the green Call button.

6.5. Using the Camera

The Doro 2800 features a VGA camera for basic photo capture.

• From the main menu, select "Camera" or press the dedicated camera button (if available on your model).
• Frame your shot using the screen as a viewfinder.
• Press the "OK" button to take a picture. Photos are saved to the phone's memory or inserted Micro SD card.

6.6. Assistance Button

The assistance button (Figure 4.4) is a key safety feature. When activated, it can automatically send an SMS message and initiate a call sequence to pre-configured emergency contacts.

• Setting up Assistance Contacts: Navigate to "Settings" > "Assistance" to add up to five emergency contacts. You can also customize the assistance message.
• Activating Assistance: Press and hold the assistance button on the back of the phone for a few seconds. The phone will send the pre-set message and then call the contacts in sequence until one answers.

• Sound Settings: Adjust ringtone volume, message tone, and key tones. You can also enable/disable vibration.
