2. Safety Information

Please read and understand all instructions before installation. Failure to follow these instructions may result in property damage, personal injury, or product malfunction.

  • Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and gloves, during installation.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface with the parking brake engaged.
  • If lifting the vehicle, use appropriate jack stands and ensure the vehicle is stable.
  • Do not overtighten fasteners. Refer to vehicle manufacturer specifications for torque values if available, or tighten securely without stripping threads.
  • Periodically check all mounting hardware for tightness and re-tighten as necessary.

3. Package Contents

Verify that all components are present before beginning installation. If any parts are missing or damaged, contact customer support.

  • 1 pair of Running Boards (Left and Right)
  • Mounting Brackets (specific to vehicle model)
  • Washers
  • Screws / Bolts

4. Setup and Installation

Installation typically requires basic hand tools. It is recommended to have a second person assist with positioning the running boards.

4.1 Required Tools (Not Included)

  • Socket Wrench Set
  • Torque Wrench (recommended)
  • Measuring Tape
  • Marker or Pen

4.2 Installation Steps

  1. Prepare the Vehicle: Park the vehicle on a flat, stable surface. Engage the parking brake.
  2. Identify Mounting Locations: Locate the pre-drilled mounting holes or attachment points on the vehicle's frame or rocker panel. These are typically found along the underside of the vehicle, beneath the doors.
  3. Mount the Brackets: Attach the appropriate mounting brackets to the vehicle's frame using the provided hardware (screws, bolts, washers). Ensure the brackets are oriented correctly for the driver's side and passenger's side. Do not fully tighten at this stage.
Step 1 of installation: Mounting brackets onto the truck frame

  1. Attach Running Boards: Carefully lift each running board and align it with the installed brackets. Secure the running board to the brackets using the remaining hardware. Ensure the running board is level and properly positioned.
  2. Adjust and Tighten: Once both running boards are loosely attached, make any necessary adjustments to ensure they are straight and evenly spaced from the vehicle body. Once satisfied with the positioning, fully tighten all bolts and screws according to recommended torque specifications.
  3. Final Check: Double-check all fasteners to ensure they are securely tightened. Test the stability of the running boards by applying moderate weight.

5. Operating Instructions

The running boards provide a convenient step for easier entry and exit from your truck, particularly for shorter individuals or those with mobility challenges. They also offer a degree of protection to the lower vehicle body.

  • Step onto the running board firmly and centrally.
  • Avoid placing excessive weight on the edges of the running board.
  • Be mindful of the running boards when driving over uneven terrain or obstacles to prevent damage.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance will help preserve the appearance and functionality of your running boards.

  • Cleaning: Clean the running boards regularly with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that could damage the matte finish.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect the running boards and all mounting hardware for signs of wear, damage, or corrosion.
  • Fastener Check: Re-tighten all mounting bolts and screws every few months, or after off-road use, to ensure they remain secure.
  • Corrosion Prevention: While the running boards feature a rust-resistant layer and powder-coated surface, regular cleaning and inspection, especially in areas exposed to road salt or harsh weather, can help prevent corrosion. Address any chips or scratches in the finish promptly to prevent rust.

7. Troubleshooting

7.1 Loose Running Boards

  • Issue: Running boards feel unstable or move when stepped on.
  • Solution: Inspect all mounting bolts and nuts. Re-tighten any loose fasteners. Ensure all brackets are correctly seated against the vehicle frame.

7.2 Rust or Corrosion

  • Issue: Appearance of rust spots or corrosion on the running boards.
  • Solution: Clean the affected area thoroughly. For minor surface rust, use a fine-grit sandpaper or wire brush to remove it, then apply a rust-inhibiting primer and touch-up paint matching the matte finish. Regular cleaning and prompt repair of any finish damage can prevent further corrosion.

7.3 Incorrect Fitment

  • Issue: Running boards do not align with mounting points or appear too long/short.
  • Solution: Double-check vehicle compatibility (Crew Cab only, Ram 1500 Classic Style for 2019-2024 models). Ensure the correct running board (driver's side vs. passenger's side) is being installed on the appropriate side. Verify that all brackets are correctly oriented.
