Introduction
The SHYSKY EP-AB025 is a 5.8GHz 4000mW (36dBm) bi-directional WiFi Signal Booster designed to enhance the range and performance of 5.8GHz IEEE 802.11a/n wireless LANs. This device is suitable for various applications including drones, UAVs, and IP cameras, providing a robust and extended wireless communication range. It features a low noise receive gain and high output power, enclosed in an aluminum-alloy case for anti-interference.
Safety Information and Important Notes
- Heat Dissipation: Heat dissipation is recommended for optimal performance and longevity. Consider adding a heatsink or radiator fan.
- Connection Sequence: Always screw in the antenna first, then connect the power supply, and finally connect the device to your wireless equipment. Incorrect sequence may damage the unit.
- Input Power: The optimal input power range for this booster is 12dBm to 16dBm. Input power below this range may result in low or no output power. Input power near or above 20dBm may cause the booster to act as a connection device without amplification, potentially weakening the signal due to attenuation.
- Indoor Use: The EP-AB025 WiFi Booster is designed as an indoor solution.

Setup and Installation
- Prepare the Booster: Ensure the EP-AB025 unit is placed in a location that allows for adequate ventilation. Consider adding a heatsink or radiator fan if operating in high-temperature environments or for prolonged periods.
- Connect Antennas: Carefully screw the appropriate 5.8GHz antennas onto the "TO ANTI" (Antenna) connectors of the EP-AB025 booster. Ensure a secure connection.
- Connect to Wireless Device: Use the provided RG141 20cm SMA Male to RP-SMA Male Cable to connect the "TO AP1" (Access Point) connector on the booster to your wireless access point, router, or drone/UAV/IP camera's 5.8GHz antenna port.
- Connect Power Supply: Use one of the provided DC adapters (12V 5.5" DC, USB, or JST) to connect the booster to a power source. The default power outlet is 2.5 x 0.7mm DC. Ensure the power supply is 12V/1A.
- Power On: Once all connections are secure, power on your wireless device and the booster. The Transmitter LED Indicator will show Green, and the Receiver LED Indicator will show Red during operation.

Operation
The EP-AB025 operates automatically once powered on and connected correctly. It functions as a bi-directional amplifier, boosting both transmit and receive signals.
- Signal Amplification: The booster will amplify the 5.8GHz Wi-Fi signal from your connected device, extending its range and improving signal strength.
- LED Indicators:
- Green LED: Indicates transmitter activity.
- Red LED: Indicates receiver activity.
- Optimal Input Power: For best performance, ensure the input power from your wireless device to the booster is between 12dBm and 16dBm. The booster's output can reach 36dBm when the input power is around 18dBm or 19dBm (default gain is 18dB).

Troubleshooting
- No Signal Amplification:
- Ensure the antenna is securely connected to the "TO ANTI" port.
- Verify the power supply is correctly connected and providing 12V/1A.
- Check the input power from your wireless device. If it's too low (below 3dBm) or too high (near or above 20dBm), the booster may not function optimally or at all. Optimal input is 12-16dBm.
- Confirm the wireless device is operating on the 5.8GHz frequency band.
- Overheating:
- If the unit feels excessively hot, ensure it has adequate ventilation.
- Consider adding a heatsink or radiator fan as recommended in the safety information.
- Weakened Signal:
- This can occur if the input power is too high (near or above 20dBm), causing the booster to attenuate the signal instead of amplifying it. Adjust the output power of your wireless device if possible.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the booster. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
- Environment: Store and operate the device within the specified temperature and humidity ranges to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Connections: Periodically check all cable connections to ensure they are secure and free from damage.
