The monitor features a large display showing time, date, and blood glucose readings. It has control buttons for navigation and memory access.
4.2. Lancing Device
The lancing device is used to obtain a blood sample. It allows for adjustable penetration depth to minimize discomfort.
4.3. Test Strips
Sinocare Safe-Accu test strips are code-free, simplifying the testing process. Each strip is designed for single use.
4.4. Lancets
Sterile lancets are used with the lancing device to prick the fingertip for a blood sample. They are single-use only.
5. Setup
- Insert Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the back of the meter and insert two AAA batteries (not included), ensuring correct polarity.
- Set Date and Time: When the meter is first turned on or after battery replacement, the date and time settings may need to be adjusted. Refer to the 'Setting Up Your Meter' section in the full manual for detailed instructions.
- Prepare Lancing Device:
- Unscrew the lancing device cap.
- Insert a new sterile lancet firmly into the lancet holder.
- Twist off the protective disk from the lancet.
- Replace the lancing device cap.
- Adjust the penetration depth by rotating the cap (e.g., 2-3 for average skin).
- Pull back the cocking control until it clicks, indicating it is ready to use.
6. Operating Instructions (Performing a Blood Glucose Test)
- Wash Hands: Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water. Dry them completely.
- Insert Test Strip: Remove a test strip from its vial and immediately close the vial cap tightly. Insert the test strip into the meter's test strip port. The meter will turn on automatically and display a blood drop symbol.
- Obtain Blood Sample: Place the prepared lancing device firmly against the side of your fingertip. Press the release button to prick your finger. Gently milk your finger from the base towards the tip to form a small drop of blood (approximately 0.6 microliters).
- Apply Blood Sample: Touch the tip of the test strip to the blood drop. The blood will be drawn into the strip automatically. Do not apply blood to the top of the strip.
- Read Results: The meter will begin a countdown (10 seconds). After the countdown, your blood glucose reading will appear on the display.
- Dispose of Used Materials: Carefully remove the used test strip and lancet. Dispose of them in a puncture-resistant container (sharps container) according to local regulations.
