1. Setup

1.1 Unpacking and Initial Inspection

Carefully unpack all components. Ensure the phone, battery, charging cradle, and power adapter are present. Inspect for any visible damage.

1.2 Inserting the SIM Card and Battery

  1. Open the battery cover on the back of the phone.
  2. Insert the SIM card into the designated slot with the gold contacts facing down, following the diagram near the slot.
  3. Insert the battery, ensuring the contacts align.
  4. Replace the battery cover.

1.3 Charging the Battery

Before first use, fully charge the phone. Connect the power adapter to the charging cradle, then place the phone in the cradle. The charging indicator will illuminate. A full charge typically takes a few hours.

1.4 Turning the Phone On/Off

  • To turn on: Press and hold the red End Call/Power button until the screen lights up.
  • To turn off: Press and hold the red End Call/Power button, then confirm by selecting 'Power off' on the screen.

2. Operating Instructions

2.1 Basic Call Functions

  • Making a call: Enter the phone number using the keypad and press the green Call button.
  • Answering a call: Open the flip or press the green Call button.
  • Ending a call: Close the flip or press the red End Call button.
  • Volume adjustment: Use the volume buttons located on the side of the phone during a call.

2.2 Sending and Receiving Messages

Navigate to the 'Messages' menu to compose new messages or read incoming ones. The phone supports text (SMS) messages. Note that adding pictures or files to messages may not be supported by all network configurations or phone settings.

2.3 Talking Number Keys

The Doro 6820 features talking number keys, which announce the number pressed aloud. This feature can be enabled or disabled in the phone's settings menu under 'Sound' or 'Accessibility'.

2.4 Camera Functionality

The phone is equipped with a 2MP camera. To access the camera, navigate to the 'Camera' icon in the main menu. Press the 'OK' button to take a photo. Photos are saved to the phone's gallery.

2.5 Assistance Button

The dedicated assistance button on the back of the phone can be programmed to automatically call or send an SMS to pre-selected emergency contacts. Refer to the phone's settings for 'Assistance' or 'SOS' to configure this feature.

3. Maintenance

3.1 Cleaning

Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to clean the phone's screen and body. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

3.2 Battery Care

  • Use only the original Doro charger and battery.

3.3 Storage

If storing the phone for a long period, charge the battery to about 50% and store it in a cool, dry place.

4. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Doro 6820, try the following steps:

  • Phone does not turn on: Ensure the battery is charged and correctly inserted.
  • Cannot make/receive calls: Check SIM card insertion, network signal strength, and ensure airplane mode is off.
  • Messages not sending/receiving: Verify recipient number, check network coverage, and ensure message center settings are correct (contact your service provider if unsure). Some advanced messaging features like picture attachments may not be supported.
  • Poor battery life: Reduce screen brightness, close unused applications, and ensure the phone is fully charged before use. Battery performance can degrade over time.
