3. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to correctly attach the reflector nozzle to your compatible Steinel heat gun.

  1. Ensure Heat Gun is Off and Cool: Before attaching or removing any accessories, ensure your heat gun is unplugged and completely cool to prevent burns or injury.
  2. Align Nozzle: Position the 9 mm reflector nozzle over the outlet of the heat gun. The nozzle is designed to fit securely over the heat gun's barrel.
  3. Secure Attachment: Gently push the nozzle onto the heat gun's outlet until it is firmly seated. Ensure it does not wobble or feel loose. The nozzle should direct the airflow as intended.
  4. Verify Fit: Once attached, lightly tug on the nozzle to confirm it is securely in place. A loose nozzle can be a safety hazard.

Warning: Do not attempt to force the nozzle onto an incompatible heat gun or one that is hot.

4. Operating Instructions

The reflector nozzle is specifically designed to concentrate and direct hot air around pipes, cables, and small diameter shrink tubes for even heating.

  1. Prepare Work Area: Ensure your work area is well-ventilated and free from flammable materials.
  2. Select Heat Gun Settings: Turn on your compatible Steinel heat gun and select the appropriate temperature setting for the material you are working with (e.g., heat shrink tubing). Refer to your heat gun's manual for specific temperature recommendations.
  3. Position Nozzle: Hold the heat gun with the reflector nozzle attached so that the nozzle surrounds the object to be heated (e.g., a cable with heat shrink tubing).
  4. Apply Heat Evenly: Move the heat gun slowly and consistently around the object to ensure even heat distribution. The reflector design will help to wrap the hot air around the circumference of the object.
  5. Monitor Process: Observe the material as it heats. For heat shrink tubing, continue heating until the tubing has uniformly shrunk and is tightly sealed around the object.
  6. Cool Down: After use, turn off the heat gun and allow it to cool down completely before storing or changing accessories.

Caution: The nozzle will become extremely hot during use. Avoid direct contact with skin and allow sufficient time for cooling before handling.

5. Maintenance and Care

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your reflector nozzle.

  • Cleaning: After the nozzle has completely cooled, you may wipe it with a dry cloth to remove any dust or debris. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the nozzle in a clean, dry place, away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect the nozzle for any signs of damage, such as dents or cracks. If the nozzle is damaged, replace it immediately to ensure safe operation.

6. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Nozzle does not fit heat gun.Incompatible heat gun model.Ensure your heat gun is one of the compatible models listed in Section 2.
Nozzle feels loose after attachment.Improper attachment or nozzle damage.Re-attach the nozzle firmly. If it remains loose, inspect for damage and replace if necessary.
Uneven heating of material.Incorrect heat gun setting or inconsistent movement.Adjust heat gun temperature. Move the heat gun more slowly and evenly around the object.
