1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all filter components and accessories from the packaging. Ensure all parts listed in the manual are present.
2. Prepare Filter Media: The filter is designed for effective filtration, and materials can be placed freely according to your needs. Refer to the diagram below for the typical flow path through the media.

3. Assemble Inlet and Outlet Tubes: Connect the water inlet and outlet components as shown in the product diagrams. These components are designed for easy disassembly.
4. Mount the Filter: Hang the filter securely on the edge of your aquarium.
5. Adjust Water Flow: Adjust the water inlet and outlet positions to ensure optimal water circulation within the aquarium.
6. Priming: The filter features an anti-dry burning design, which provides protection if operated without water. However, ensure the filter is properly primed with water before connecting to power for optimal performance.

4. Operation

Once installed and primed, connect the filter to a power source. The filter will begin operating, providing a strong water flow for effective filtration. The XBL-600 model is designed for quiet and efficient operation.

5. Maintenance

1. Disconnect Power: Always unplug the filter from the power source before performing any maintenance.
2. Remove Filter from Aquarium: Carefully lift the hang-on filter from the aquarium.
3. Disassemble and Clean: Open the filter housing and remove the filtration media. Rinse mechanical media (sponges) with old aquarium water to preserve beneficial bacteria.   • Ensure inlet and outlet tubes are free from obstructions.
• No Power:
  • Verify the power cord is securely plugged into a working outlet.
  • Check for tripped circuit breakers.
• Leaking:
  • Ensure the filter housing is correctly assembled and latches are secure.
  • Check all O-rings and gaskets for proper seating and damage. Replace if necessary.
  • Verify hose connections are tight.
• Unusual Noise:
  • Air trapped in the filter: Gently tilt the filter to release trapped air.
  • Impeller issue: Inspect the impeller for foreign objects or wear.
