3. Setup

3.1 Initial Assembly

The PowerSmart pressure washer comes 95% assembled. Only minimal setup is required before first use.

  • Attach the handle to the main unit using the provided hardware.
  • Secure the rubber feet to the base of the unit.
  • Ensure the wheels are securely attached.

3.2 Adding Engine Oil and Fuel

The engine is shipped without oil. You must add engine oil before starting the unit for the first time. Use 10W-30 engine oil.

  • Place the pressure washer on a level surface.
  • Locate the oil fill cap/dipstick on the engine.
  • Carefully pour the recommended engine oil into the oil fill opening using the provided funnel until it reaches the full mark on the dipstick. Do not overfill.
  • Fill the fuel tank with fresh, unleaded gasoline (minimum 87 octane). Do not use E85 or E15 fuel.
  • Ensure the fuel cap is securely tightened.

3.3 Connecting Hoses

  • Connect your garden hose to the water inlet on the pressure washer. Ensure the connection is tight to prevent leaks.
  • Connect the high-pressure hose to the high-pressure outlet on the pump.
  • Attach the other end of the high-pressure hose to the spray gun.
  • Insert the metal spray wand into the spray gun and twist to secure.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Starting the Pressure Washer

  1. Ensure the engine oil and fuel levels are correct.
  2. Turn on the fuel valve (if applicable).
  3. Set the engine switch to the 'ON' position.
  4. Pull the choke lever to the 'CHOKE' position (for cold starts).
  5. Pull the recoil starter handle firmly until the engine starts.
  6. Once the engine starts, gradually move the choke lever to the 'RUN' position.

4.2 Using Nozzles and Soap Tank

The PowerSmart pressure washer comes with 5 quick-connect nozzle tips, each designed for different cleaning intensities and applications:

  • 0° (Red): For tough, stubborn stains and concentrated cleaning.
  • 15° (Yellow): For intense cleaning of hard surfaces like concrete and brick.
  • 25° (Green): For general cleaning of decks, patios, and fences.
  • 40° (White): For gentle cleaning of delicate surfaces like vehicles and windows.
  • Soap (Black): For applying detergent at low pressure.

  • Vehicles: Use the soap nozzle for applying detergent, then rinse with a 40° nozzle for a gentle yet thorough clean.
  • Decks and Patios: Use a 25° nozzle for most surfaces, adjusting as needed for softer materials.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your pressure washer.

  • Engine Oil: Check engine oil level before each use and change after the first 5 hours, then every 50 hours or annually.
  • Air Filter: Clean or replace the air filter every 50 hours or more frequently in dusty conditions.
  • Spark Plug: Inspect and clean the spark plug annually or every 100 hours. Replace if necessary.
  • Fuel System: Drain the fuel system if storing for more than 30 days to prevent fuel degradation.
  • Pump: Flush the pump with a pump protector or non-toxic antifreeze before long-term storage in freezing temperatures.
  • Nozzles: Clean clogged nozzles with the provided nozzle cleaning tool.
