Setup

Initial Charging

Before first use, it is recommended to fully charge the internal 4,000 mAh Li-ion battery.

  1. Connect the supplied USB-C charging cable to the "DC IN 5V" port on the radio.
  2. Connect the other end of the USB-C cable to a standard USB power adapter (not included) or a computer's USB port.
  3. The charging indicator light will illuminate. Charging is complete when the light changes color or turns off.

Neck Cord Attachment

The included 30-inch neck cord can be attached for hands-free carrying.

  1. Locate the small loop or attachment point on the radio's casing.
  2. Thread the cord through the loop and secure it with the adjustable cordlock.

Operating Instructions

Turning On/Off and Volume Control

Rotate the "VOL" knob clockwise to turn the radio on and increase the volume. Rotate counter-clockwise to decrease volume and turn the unit off.

Radio Operation (AM/FM/NOAA Weather Band)

  1. Extend the telescopic antenna for optimal reception, especially for FM and Weather Band.
  2. Rotate the "BAND" knob to select your desired frequency band: AM, FM, or WB (Weather Band).
  3. Slowly rotate the tuning dial to find your desired station.
  4. For NOAA Weather Band, the radio will scan through the 7 available channels to find the strongest signal.

Powering the Device

The Kaito KA777 offers multiple ways to power itself and its functions:

1. Internal Li-ion Battery

The built-in 4,000 mAh rechargeable battery powers all functions. It is charged via USB-C, solar panel, or hand crank.

2. USB-C Charging

Connect the USB-C cable to the "DC IN 5V" port and a USB power source. This is the fastest charging method.

3. Solar Panel Charging

Place the radio with the solar panel facing direct sunlight. The solar panel charges the internal battery. This method is ideal for maintaining charge or slow charging in outdoor environments.

4. Hand Crank Charging

Unfold the hand crank handle located on the back of the radio. Rotate the crank clockwise or counter-clockwise at a steady pace (approximately 120-150 RPM) for 3-5 minutes to generate enough power for short-term use or to initiate charging.

Power Bank Function (Charging External Devices)

The KA777 can act as a power bank to charge your mobile devices.

  1. Ensure the radio's internal battery has sufficient charge.
  2. Connect your device's USB charging cable to the "DC OUT 5V" (USB-A) port on the radio.
  3. The radio will begin charging your device. The 4,000 mAh capacity is typically sufficient to fully charge most iPhone models once.
