4. Setup
4.1 Battery Installation
The AP-5000K requires two AAA batteries for operation. To install:
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
- Use the provided small screwdriver to loosen the screw on the battery cover.
- Remove the battery cover.
- Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw.
4.2 Initial Power On
After installing batteries, press the Power On/Off button to turn on the device. The LCD display will illuminate.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Power On/Off
- Press the Power On/Off button to turn the anemometer on.
- Press and hold the Power On/Off button for a few seconds to turn the anemometer off.
- The device will automatically power off after 10 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life.
5.2 Changing Wind Speed Units
With the device powered on, press the UNIT button repeatedly to cycle through the available wind speed units: m/s, km/h, ft/s, ft/m, knots, and mph.
5.3 Changing Temperature Units
Press the °C/°F button to switch the temperature display between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F).
5.4 Measurement Modes (MAX/MIN/AVG)
Press the MAX/MIN button to cycle through different measurement modes:
- MAX: Displays the maximum recorded wind speed, temperature, or humidity since the device was powered on or the mode was reset.
- MIN: Displays the minimum recorded wind speed, temperature, or humidity.
- AVG: Displays the average recorded wind speed, temperature, or humidity.
- Pressing the button again will return to real-time measurement.
5.5 Data Hold Function
Press the HOLD button to freeze the current readings on the display. Press it again to release the hold and resume real-time measurements.
5.6 Backlight
Press the Backlight button to turn the LCD backlight on or off, improving visibility in low-light conditions.
5.7 270° Rotatable Sensor
The wind speed sensor probe can be rotated up to 270 degrees. This allows for flexible positioning to accurately capture wind flow from various directions without needing to reposition the entire device.
5.8 Tripod Mounting

6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the anemometer in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
- Sensor Care: Keep the wind speed sensor (fan) free from dust and debris to ensure accurate readings. Avoid touching the fan blades directly.
