AIRHEAD AHP-12HP

AIRHEAD High Pressure Air Pump Yellow 12 Volt

Model: AHP-12HP

Introduction

Thank you for choosing the AIRHEAD High Pressure Air Pump. This 12-volt pump is designed for efficient inflation and deflation of various inflatable items such as boats, rafts, towables, and pool toys. It features a high volume air flow and a pressure release valve to prevent over-inflation. Please read this manual thoroughly before use to ensure proper operation and longevity of your pump.

Safety Information

  • Always connect the pump to a 12-volt power source (car, truck, or boat battery) using the provided alligator clips.
  • Ensure proper polarity when connecting to the battery: red clip to positive (+), black clip to negative (-).
  • Do not operate the pump in wet conditions or immerse it in water.
  • Keep children away from the pump during operation.
  • Do not block the air intake or exhaust ports during operation.
  • The pump may become warm during extended use. Allow it to cool down between inflation cycles if necessary.
  • Always use the appropriate adapter for your inflatable item to prevent damage.
  • The pressure release valve is designed to prevent over-inflation of certain items. Do not bypass or modify this feature.

Setup

  1. Connect the Hose: Securely attach the accordion-style hose to either the "INFLATE" or "DEFLATE" port on the pump, depending on your desired function. The hose locks into place.
  2. Select Adapter: Choose the appropriate valve adapter for your inflatable item. Attach it firmly to the end of the hose. The screw-on Boston Valve adapter is an AIRHEAD exclusive for secure connection.
  3. Power Connection: Connect the red alligator clip to the positive (+) terminal of your 12-volt car, truck, or boat battery. Connect the black alligator clip to the negative (-) terminal of the battery. Ensure a secure connection.
  4. Pressure Release Valve: For items that require lower pressure (e.g., towables, pool toys), ensure the removable pressure release valve is installed. This limits pressure to 1.4 psi to prevent over-inflation. For higher pressure items (e.g., inflatable boats, rafts), you may remove this valve if higher firmness is desired, but always monitor inflation carefully.

Operating Instructions

Inflation

  1. Ensure the hose is connected to the "INFLATE" port and the correct adapter is attached to the hose.
  2. Insert the adapter into the valve of your inflatable item.
  3. Turn on the pump using the power switch.
  4. Monitor the inflation process. If the pressure release valve is installed, the pump will stop increasing pressure once 1.4 psi is reached. For items requiring higher pressure, remove the pressure release valve and inflate until the desired firmness is achieved, being careful not to over-inflate.
  5. Once inflated, turn off the pump and disconnect it from the inflatable item and the battery.

Deflation

  1. Ensure the hose is connected to the "DEFLATE" port and the correct adapter is attached to the hose.
  2. Insert the adapter into the valve of your inflatable item.
  3. Turn on the pump using the power switch.
  4. The pump will rapidly remove air from the item.
  5. Once deflated, turn off the pump and disconnect it from the inflatable item and the battery.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the pump exterior with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Ensure the pump is dry before storage.
  • Storage: Store the pump, hose, and adapters in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Hose Inspection: Periodically check the hose for any cracks, punctures, or damage. Replace if necessary to maintain optimal performance.
  • Power Cord Inspection: Inspect the power cord and alligator clips for any fraying or damage before each use.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Pump does not turn on.No power to the pump; loose battery connection; faulty power switch.Check battery connections (red to +, black to -). Ensure battery has sufficient charge. Verify power switch is in the 'ON' position.
Low air flow or slow inflation.Incorrect adapter; hose not securely attached; blocked intake/exhaust; low battery voltage.Ensure correct adapter is used and hose is firmly connected. Check for obstructions in ports. Verify battery charge.
Pump overheats.Extended continuous operation; blocked air vents.Allow pump to cool down for several minutes. Ensure air vents are clear of debris. Avoid continuous operation for more than 10-15 minutes.
Inflatable item not firm enough.Pressure release valve installed for high-pressure item.Remove the pressure release valve for items requiring higher firmness. Inflate carefully to avoid over-inflation.
