4. Setup

Follow these steps for initial setup:

  1. Unboxing and Placement: Carefully remove the printer from its packaging. Place it on a stable, flat surface.
  2. Remove Securing Screws: Before first use, remove the four Z-axis securing screws using the included 2.0mm hex wrench.
Diagram showing how to remove Z-axis securing screws with a hex wrench.

Image: Important notice regarding the removal of Z-axis securing screws using a hex wrench, emphasizing proper angle to prevent stripping.

Critical Note: Ensure the hex wrench is inserted at a 90-degree perpendicular angle to the screw head and rotate gently. Improper alignment may result in screw head stripping, making the screws difficult to remove. If stripping occurs, refer to the troubleshooting section or contact support.

  3. Power Connection: Connect the power cable to the printer and a suitable power outlet.
  4. Initial Power On: Turn on the printer using the power switch. The touchscreen will guide you through the initial setup process, including network connection (Wi-Fi or Ethernet).
  5. Filament Loading: Follow the on-screen instructions to load the filament. Place the spool on the holder and feed the filament into the extruder until it is automatically pulled in.
  6. Automatic Bed Leveling: The Adventurer 5M Pro features automatic bed leveling. The printer will perform a pressure-sensing calibration to ensure a flawless first layer. No manual adjustments are typically needed.

  7. Software Installation: Download and install the FlashPrint or Orca-Flashforge slicing software from the official FLASHFORGE website onto your computer. This software is essential for preparing your 3D models for printing.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Printing Process

  1. Prepare Model: Open your 3D model (.STL, .OBJ, etc.) in the FlashPrint or Orca-Flashforge slicing software.
  2. Configure Settings: Adjust print settings such as layer height, infill density, print speed, and support structures based on your model and desired quality. The Adventurer 5M Pro supports high-speed printing up to 600mm/s.

Image: The printer's high-speed capabilities, reaching 600mm/s print speed and 20000mm/s² acceleration for rapid model realization.

  3. Slice Model: Use the software to "slice" the model, converting it into G-code instructions for the printer.
  4. Transfer File: Transfer the G-code file to the printer via USB drive, Wi-Fi, or Ethernet.
  5. Start Print: Select the file on the printer's touchscreen and initiate the print. The printer will automatically heat the nozzle and bed.
  6. Monitor Print: You can monitor the print progress via the built-in HD camera (accessible through the Flash Maker mobile app or printer's IP address) or directly on the printer's 4.3-inch touchscreen.

  7. Remove Print: Once printing is complete and the bed has cooled, gently remove the printed object from the dual-sided PEI platform.

5.2 Material Compatibility

The Adventurer 5M Pro supports a wide range of filament types due to its 280°C full-metal direct extruder:

  • PLA (Polylactic Acid)
  • ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene)
  • PETG (Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol)
  • ASA (Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate)
  • TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane)
  • PC (Polycarbonate)
  • PLA-CF (PLA Carbon Fiber)
  • PETG-CF (PETG Carbon Fiber)
Various 3D printed objects made from different materials, showcasing multi-material printing capability.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Nozzle Care

  • Nozzle Replacement: The Adventurer 5M Pro features a quick-detachable nozzle. To replace, ensure the nozzle is heated, then carefully detach and replace.
Diagram showing different nozzle sizes and the quick-detach mechanism.

Image: Illustration of the 32mm³/s high-flow quick-detach nozzle, available in various sizes (0.25mm, 0.4mm, 0.6mm, 0.8mm) for different printing needs.

  • Nozzle Cleaning (Cold Pull): Heat the nozzle to the material's melting point, then cool it to 80°C and quickly pull the filament out to remove any residue. Wear heat-resistant gloves. For stubborn blockages, repeat 2-3 times.
  • Nozzle Cleaning (Needle Clearing): Heat the nozzle to the material's melting point. Insert a needle from the top of the extruder and remove any accumulated material.
  • Nozzle Usage Recommendations: Dedicate one nozzle per filament type (especially carbon fiber/PETG). When switching filament with the same nozzle, set a higher temperature than the melting point of the filament inside to perform internal cleaning. Clean nozzles every 1-3 months.

6.2 Air Filtration System

The dual circulation system helps reduce dust and VOCs. Regularly check and clean the air filters to maintain optimal performance and air quality.

7. Troubleshooting

Refer to the following common issues and their solutions:

Problem Possible Cause & Solution
Printer cannot print successfully
  • Nozzle clogged: Clean or replace the nozzle.
  • Model failed to adhere: Ensure automatic leveling was enabled.
  • Overhangs: Add supports if overhang angles exceed 30°.
Poor print quality
  • Low-quality or damp filament: Use fresh, dry filament.
  • Incorrect print temperature settings: Adjust temperatures in slicing software.
  • Partially clogged nozzle: Clean the nozzle.
  • Vibration compensation disabled: Enable automatic leveling and vibration compensation.
Comparison of 3D prints with and without vibration compensation.

Image: A visual comparison demonstrating the improved detail and quality achieved with vibration compensation enabled.

Nozzle scratches the platform
  • Filament residue on nozzle tip or print bed: Clean both.
  • Outdated firmware: Upgrade printer firmware and enable automatic leveling.
Printer won't heat up
  • Power off and reinsert nozzle.
  • Check for missing/bent metal pins in nozzle socket.
  • Replace with a new nozzle if damaged.
Wi-Fi/software cannot connect
  • Avoid Wi-Fi names/passwords with special characters.
  • Update printer firmware, Orca-Flashforge, and Flash Maker to latest versions.
"Level Probe Can Not Clear. Please Check the Level Probe" error
  • Raise the bed to its maximum height, turn off the printer, and re-insert the platform cable.
